Damn! There's Monday again.

We finally went to see Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation this weekend. Really, really good action movie. Halfway through I was thinking to myself "HOW do they think of all these things?" Tom Cruise is just knows how movies work and has made a phenomenal career. You have to give him kudos. I was also thinking of the other actors in the movie and how they've locked into other franchises: Simon Pegg has Mission Impossible and Star Trek (Scotty), Jeremy Renner has Mission Impossible and The Avengers (Hawkeye) and the Bourne movies. It's good to be an "A-list" actor.

There was also a preview of the new Zoolander movie coming next year. I'm iffy on Ben Stiller but Zoolander and Tropic Thunder are fabulous comedies. The trailer made me laugh out loud and chuckle through the next preview.

From Zoolander, here's the "Blue Steel" scene:

And then Supernatural's take:

Have a great day, everyone.

Hey! Is that the weekend?

TGIF, people!

On the down side:

Hot hot hot this weekend.

Still incredibly smoky. This is a blurry photo from my cell phone outside our shop this morning. That's the sun. Red.

On the up side:

It's the weekend.

I'm not on the front desk today.

So much to read, view, do, etc. and I remind myself that is a good thing.

I do have chores to complete but that's ok.

So. Have a great weekend, y'all.

Much love,

He meant to say "Yes, cookies would be great."

Soooooo much to read. Fiction, nonfiction, you name it, I've got a list of stuff to read. And listen to. Let's not discount the audiobooks, too.

And what am I binge-ish watching now? Suits. Back to it. There is great banter like this one from the opening scene of the very first episode:

Let's see I'm on episode eleven of the first season. There are five seasons. This and maybe watching the original NCIS may get me through until the Fall seasons start in a month. Or I could go back to Supernatural, or Daredevil, or Sense 8 ....

Steve (formerly known as "the non-reader") expressed interest in the Jack Reacher books by Lee Child. So the first one should be arriving today for him. Steve, however, is still stuck in "book assignment" mode. He believes he needs to complete a book he's currently reading even though he is so not enjoying it.

And I'm afraid he's sabotaging his reading habit he's developing by forcing himself to read it. I can't convince him to walk away from it.

But at this point all I can do is provide better books.

Ok, ending the post on a happy note: some Charming and Deeks!

Oh, and how about some Arrow while we're at it:

Yeah, I'm way happier now.

Much love,

This is a threat if I ever saw one

Currently reading THE NATURE OF THE BEAST by Louise Penny. This is 11th of 11 in series featuring Armand Gamache, Chief Inspector of the Sûreté du Québec, in the village of Three Pines, in southern Quebec. Here's a description:
Hardly a day goes by when nine year old Laurent Lepage doesn't cry wolf. From alien invasions, to walking trees, to winged beasts in the woods, to dinosaurs spotted in the village of Three Pines, his tales are so extraordinary no one can possibly believe him. Including Armand and Reine-Marie Gamache, who now live in the little Quebec village. But when the boy disappears, the villagers are faced with the possibility that one of his tall tales might have been true. And so begins a frantic search for the boy and the truth. What they uncover deep in the forest sets off a sequence of events that leads to murder, leads to an old crime, leads to an old betrayal. Leads right to the door of an old poet. And now it is now, writes Ruth Zardo. And the dark thing is here. A monster once visited Three Pines. And put down deep roots. And now, Ruth knows, it is back. Armand Gamache, the former head of homicide for the Sûreté du Québec, must face the possibility that, in not believing the boy, he himself played a terrible part in what happens next.

Published 2015, it has 384 pages. Love this author's work.

Here's the reference for the East Coast versus West Coast rules of rock/paper/scissors:

Hot again today, about 95. Smoky from the fires and my eyes are really bugging me today despite the Zyrtec.

I have so much to do outside of work. Books to read, V.O. homework, binge watching.... Argh!

I mean, isn't that a good problem to have? But it IS a problem.

Have a great day!

It's *Monday* again

Currently reading THE FIXER by Joseph Finder. This is a stand alone thriller. Here's a description:

When former investigative reporter Rick Hoffman loses his job, fiancée, and apartment, his only option is to move back into — and renovate — the home of his miserable youth, now empty and in decay since the stroke that put his father in a nursing home. As Rick starts to pull apart the old house, he makes an electrifying discovery — millions of dollars hidden in the walls. It’s enough money to completely transform Rick’s life — and everything he thought he knew about his father.  Yet the more of his father’s hidden past that Rick brings to light, the more dangerous his present becomes. Soon, he finds himself on the run from deadly enemies desperate to keep the past buried, and only solving the mystery of his father — a man who has been unable to communicate, comprehend, or care for himself for almost 20 years — will save Rick... if he can survive long enough to do it.
Published in 2015, it has 384 pages. This is a digital loan from the library.

We watched the premiere of The Walking Dead spin off, Fear the Walking Dead last night. Ninety minutes. Slllooooooooowwwwww. The creators have said this will be a "slow burn" in story telling but really??

According to executive producer Dave Erickson:
“We purposely built the show a little bit more slowly than the original. We tried to slow burn the story [and] make it as much about the anxiety and tension and paranoia that goes with this outbreak as much as it is about the actual confrontations with zombies.”

It's an interesting premise. With The Walking Dead, which mirrored the graphic novel it was based on, the POV character Rick has a pre-Apocalypse scene as a sheriff's deputy who awakens from a months-long coma to confront an apocalyptic world overrun by zombies. It's a done deal and the world as we know it has fallen apart.

The spin off, however, is set in Los Angeles in the opening stages of the zombie apocalypse -- rumors of a virus or maybe bath salts -- as they then come to terms with the impending collapse of civilization. In other words, the parts the original show skipped. So it WILL be slower; it's an origins story.

After the storms blew out the smoke from the Washington forest fires on Saturday, it's back and it's going to be hot again, in the 90s. Mornings are cooling off; kinda feeling like Fall.

We had dinner with Steve's mom, sister and niece on Saturday at Olive Garden. I haven't been there in ages. I had the lasagne because I don't get to eat Italian that often. I LOVE their salad.

I came across some Once Upon a Time fan-created art that I thought was pretty cool:

And for equal time, here's some NCIS: Los Angeles fan art for the up coming new season:

People are very creative. And apparently have more free time.

Have a great day, all!

The REAL Smokey

Billings today. Smoke from the fires in Washington:

.....Aaaaaaand I'm allergic to smoke. Yay. I've been taking two Zyrtecs in the morning but the smoke still gives me a headache and is irritating my eyes. I took an additional Benedryl last night so of course I zonked out by 8. :) Best sleep I've had in days.

HOWEVER .....

It IS Friday!!! The weekend is almost here!

And a high-five from Deeks!

It's supposed to be in the 90s today but in the 60s tomorrow. Woot!

I have the weekend chores to do of course and I hope to get some reading done as the books are stacking up. I'm learning how to do voice over work so I have a lesson tomorrow morning and getting my office set up.

Have a great weekend, all!

Much love,
