Going with the flow

Tuesday. Not much happening. Just work.

Nothing on TV. I may play with beads, read, and go to bed. I didn't sleep very well last night for some reason so getting a head start on it would be wise.

 So plugging right along.

 Have a good day

Monday

Monday.

Currently reading PALADIN OF SOULS by Lois McMaster Bujold. 2nd in Chalion trilogy

Three years have passed since the widowed Dowager Royina Ista found release from the curse of madness that kept her imprisoned in her family's castle of Valenda. Her newfound freedom is costly, bittersweet with memories, regrets, and guilty secrets -- for she knows the truth of what brought her land to the brink of destruction. And now the road -- escape -- beckons. . . . A simple pilgrimage, perhaps. Quite fitting for the Dowager Royina of all Chalion. Yet something else is free, too -- something beyond deadly. To the north lies the vital border fortress of Porifors. Memories linger there as well, of wars and invasions and the mighty Golden General of Jokona. And someone, something, watches from across that border -- humans, demons, gods. Ista thinks her little party of pilgrims wanders at will. But whose? When Ista's retinue is unexpectedly set upon not long into its travels, a mysterious ally appears -- a warrior nobleman who fights like a berserker. The temporary safety of her enigmatic champion's castle cannot ease Ista's mounting dread, however, when she finds his dark secrets are entangled with hers in a net of the gods' own weaving. In her dreams the threads are already drawing her to unforeseen chances, fateful meetings, fearsome choices. What the inscrutable gods commanded of her in the past brought her land to the brink of devastation. Now, once again, they have chosen Ista as their instrument. And again, for good or for ill, she must comply.

Attitude

 Wednesday.

Steve has the gun range this evening. I'm going to have some paleo spaghetti, hang with the boys, watch some Law & Order Criminal Intent, play with beads maybe, and read before bed.

Also currently reading SHADOWS IN DEATH by JD Robb. 51st of 51 in series featuring Eve Dallas, a homicide lieutenant in futuristic New York City.

While Eve examines a fresh body in Washington Square Park, her husband, Roarke, spots a man among the onlookers he’s known since his younger days on the streets of Dublin. A man who claims to be his half brother. A man who kills for a living—and who burns with hatred for him. Eve is quick to suspect that the victim’s spouse—resentful over his wife’s affair and poised to inherit her fortune—would have happily paid an assassin to do his dirty work. Roarke is just as quick to warn her that if Lorcan Cobbe is the hitman, she needs to be careful. Law enforcement agencies worldwide have pursued this cold-hearted killer for years, to no avail. And his lazy smirk when he looked Roarke’s way indicates that he will target anyone who matters to Roarke…and is confident he’ll get away with it. Eve is desperate to protect Roarke. Roarke is desperate to protect Eve. And together, they’re determined to find Cobbe before he finds them—even if it takes them across the Atlantic, far outside Eve’s usual jurisdiction…

Happy Friday!

 TGIF

We don't have any plans. A good thing. I just want to relax after covering the front desk for three days with no break and having the dogs along. Reading, beading, some cleaning, and napping.

I'm currently bouncing between several books...

But I came across this today. Maybe I'll start that, too, for a fun holiday weekend read.

THE UNRAVELING OF CASSIDY HOLMES by Elissa R. Sloan. Fiction stand alone.

Cassidy Holmes isn't just a celebrity. She is “Sassy Gloss,” the fourth member of the hottest pop group America has ever seen. Hotter than Britney dancing with a snake, hotter than Christina getting dirrty, Gloss was the pop act that everyone idolized. Fans couldn't get enough of them, their music, and the drama that followed them like moths to a flame—until the group’s sudden implosion in 2002. And at the center of it all was Sassy Cassy, the Texan with a signature smirk that had everyone falling for her. But now she's dead. Suicide. The world is reeling from this unexpected news, but no one is more shocked than the three remaining Glossies. Fifteen years ago, Rose, Merry, and Yumi had been the closest to Cassidy, and this loss is hitting them hard. Before the group split, they each had a special bond with Cassidy—truths they told, secrets they shared. But after years apart, each of them is wondering: what could they have done?

Published 2020; 429 pages. Obviously the set up is the Spice Girls. We'll see how it goes.

President Trump officially signed a deal normalizing relations between Kosovo, Serbia and Israel at the White House Friday....

Have a good long weekend

Not quite a Friday

Thursday.

Nothing on TV tonight. I wish I had the desire and energy to bead in the evenings this week ... but I don't.

It's just being weary of the week. The thrill is gone.

Needless to say, I'm looking forward to the three-day weekend.

No idea what's for dinner tonight. I provided breakfast and lunch today so I'm going to live it up to Steve to provide and pay.

Have a good day

Wouldn't it be nice

Steve has the gun range tonight. I'm tired. Dinner, read, go to bed.

Just started AND IN THE END: The Last Days of the Beatles by Ken McNab. Nonfiction

McNab reconstructs for the first time the seismic events of 1969, when The Beatles reached new highs of creativity and new lows of the internal strife that would destroy them. Between the pressure of being filmed during rehearsals and writing sessions for the documentary Get Back, their company Apple Corps facing bankruptcy, Lennon's heroin use, and musical disagreements, the group was arguing more than ever before and their formerly close friendship began to disintegrate. In the midst of this rancour, however, emerged the disharmony of Let It Be and the ragged genius of Abbey Road, their incredible farewell love letter to the world.
