We've got this

Wednesday. It's just been stupidly crazy at work the last couple of days with people freaked out about the weather and their garage doors

Steve has got the gun range tonight -- if anyone shows up for it with the super cold (though they are inside shooting).

I haven't had much chance to get going in the Robb book, so hopefully tonight.

And hang with the boys until bedtime.

Have a good day

I do not acknowledge winter

Tuesday. I'll be making a hamburger/mushroom type Whole 30 soup tonight. We'll see how Steve likes it.

We've got Curse of Oak Island tonight. That's about it. Then reading then bed.

About to start FAITHLESS IN DEATH by JD Robb. 52nd of 52 in series featuring Eve Dallas, a homicide lieutenant in futuristic New York City.

The scene in the West Village studio appears to be classic crime-of-passion: two wineglasses by the bed, music playing, and a young sculptor named Ariel Byrd with the back of her head bashed in. But when Dallas tracks down the wealthy Upper East Side woman who called 911, the details don’t add up. Gwen Huffman is wealthy, elegant, comforted by her handsome fiancĂ© as she sheds tears over the trauma of finding the body—but why did it take an hour to report it? And why is she lying about little things? As Eve and her team look into Gwen, her past, and the people around her, they find that the lies are about more than murder. As with sculpture, they need to chip away at the layers of deception to find the shape within—and soon they’re getting the FBI involved in a case that involves a sinister, fanatical group and a stunning criminal conspiracy.

Published 2021; 383 pages.

Winter is ... here

The weekend:

Seriously. Despite that, I read A LOT.

 And I finally finished

Currently started listening to the audiobook of THE THIEF by Megan Whalen Turner. 1st of 6 in The Queen's Thief fantasy series.

The most powerful advisor to the King of Sounis is the magus. He's not a wizard, he’s a scholar, an aging solider, not a thief. When he needs something stolen, he pulls a young thief from the King's prison to do the job for him. Gen is a thief and proud of it. When his bragging lands him behind bars he has one chance to win his freedom, journey to a neighboring kingdom with the magus, find a legendary stone called Hamiathes’s Gift, and steal it. The magus has plans for his King and his country. Gen has plans of his own.

Published 1996; 236 pages. GREAT voice on the audiobook performer.

Have a good day

TGIF

Friday. Sorry there was no post yesterday. The 'Net wouldn't let me do pictures.

Plus the receptionist has been out yesterday and today.

With the cold and snowy weather that's moved in...

Not only is it soup making weather ...

It is also napping weather ....

It is also reading weather ...

I don't want to go out at all this weekend so I won't be going to the bead shop for their Superbowl sale. I don't really need anything there and I'll be going there next weekend for a class.

I'm going to hang out with my boys ...

... and read and nap and make soup and figure out something snack-ish for dinner Superbowl for Steve (I won't really be watching this year). I'm more than half done with the Ames book. I'd like to start the next Nathan Lowell book:

About to start HALF SHARE by Nathan Lowell. 2nd of 6 in the Trader's Tales from the Golden Air of the Solar Clipper series. SFF

Six months in the Deep Dark.
Four different women. One man discovers what it means to be a spacer.
It's a time of change on the Lois McKendrick. Sarah Krugg joins the crew and Ishmael Wang moves to Environmental. After getting accustomed to life aboard a solar clipper, Ishmael must learn a whole new set of skills, face his own fears and doubts, and try to balance love and loss in the depths of space. Both Ishmael and Sarah must learn to live by the mantra, "Trust Lois." For Sarah, there is the hope of escaping a horrifying past. For Ishmael, he must discover what type of man he wants to become and learn his choices have consequences. Return with the crew of the SC Lois McKendrick, and set sail in the next installment of the Trader's Tales from the Golden Age of the Solar Clipper. All your favorites return: Ish, Pip, Cookie, Brill, Diane, and Big Bad Bev. You might even discover some new friends as you travel among the stars.

Published 2012; 235 pages.

 Have a good weekend

Hmmm ... Wednesday, I think .... it is, right?... Yes I think so....

 Midweek.

Steve has gone the gun range tonight. I may get some dinner from out.

Nothing on TV tonight for me. I will read.

Currently also reading QUARTER SHARE by Nathan Lowell. 1st of 6 in the SFF series Trader's Tales from the Golden Age of the Solar Clipper.

When his mother dies in a flitter crash, eighteen-year-old Ishmael Horatio Wang must find a job with the planet company or leave the system--and NerisCo isn't hiring. With credits running low, and prospects limited, he has just one hope...to enlist for two years with a deep space commercial freighter. Ishmael, who only rarely visited the Neris Orbital, and has never been off-planet alone before, finds himself part of an eclectic crew sailing a deep space leviathan between the stars. Join the crew of the SC Lois McKendrick, a Manchester built clipper as she sets solar sails in search of profit for her company and a crew each entitled to a share equal to their rating.

Published 2012, 250 pages. Hitting the spot right now.

Don't you just love it when you find a couple good series and you can alternate back and forth for a while in your reading?

Mood

Tuesday. When I woke up this morning, for the first couple minutes, I absolutely thought it was Wednesday.  But it was only Tuesday.

Steve has a board meeting. I'm going to be working on some world building while the mood strikes me.

Curse of Oak Island is a filler kind of episode so nothing to watch on TV. So that's about it.

Have a good day

Not very happy about this whole "going back to work on a Monday" thing

Monday

The class on Saturday was ok. Only three of us students. I finally settled on gold beads and a gold/bronze bead. Turned out ok.

Ann, the instructor, really really liked my colors so she wound up purchasing the beads to do one like it herself.

I've been kinda stuck on what to read next. And I think I wanted to read something lighter. Currently reading MARKED MASTERS by Ritter Ames. 2nd of 5 in series featuring Laurel Beacham in the Bodies of Art series.

Laurel Beacham made working solo a personal success story and is known for her nerve, instincts, and ability to do whatever necessary to return each priceless masterpiece safely intact. As the world’s leading art recovery expert, she’s thwarted more heists than the average law enforcement professional. Museums applaud her skills. Thieves admire the cunning way she operates. Her last job landed her the head position over the London branch of Beacham Foundation, but bringing one case to a close only opened a bigger one. More importantly, the new case inextricably ties her to Jack Hawkes, a man smart enough to be her equal but who keeps her trust meter firmly in the red zone. Trying to stop a rumored heist of the century, the pair leap headlong into a plot that gets more dangerous and illusive by the minute. The clock counts down as the bodies and forgeries stack up.

Published 2016; 263 pages.

Tonight we've got Street Outlaws to watch. I may bead (maybe not) or I may journal/brainstorm.

Have a good day

Much love,
