Works for Batman. And Daredevil. And Green Arrow.

Day 14 of food detox. I haven't cheated once. And I haven't really been tempted.

So I'm quite pleased.

The situation at work continues to deteriorate.

But I can't do anything about that. So life goes on.

Will be starting BETRAYALS by Kelley Armstrong 4th of 4 in the Cainsville series.

When Olivia's life exploded--after she found out she was not the adopted child of a privileged Chicago family but of a notorious pair of convicted serial killers--she found a refuge in the secluded but oddly welcoming town of Cainsville, Illinois. Working with Gabriel Walsh, a fiendishly successful criminal lawyer with links to the town, she discovered the truth about her parents' crimes in an investigation that also revealed the darker forces at work in the place that had offered her a haven. As if that wasn't enough, she also found out that she, Gabriel and her biker boyfriend Ricky were not caught in an ordinary sort of love triangle, but were hereditary actors in an ancient drama in which the elders of Cainsville and the mysterious Huntsmen who opposed them had a huge stake. Now someone is killing street kids in the city, and the police have tied Ricky to the crimes. Setting out with Gabriel's help to clear Ricky's name, Olivia once again finds her own life at risk. Soon the three are tangled in a web of betrayals that threatens their uneasy equilibrium and is pushing them toward a hard choice: either they fulfill their destinies by trusting each other and staying true to their real bonds, or they succumb to the extraordinary forces trying to win an eternal war by tearing them apart.

Published 2016, it has 432 pages. In the last book, Olivia chose the wrong person to be with, IMHO. We'll see how this one goes.

Have a good one.

But I came to work on Monday!

You know what I'm sick and tired of? Drama at work.

As an empath, I am sensitive to the emotions of others and what I'd like to say is "This isn't high school, behave like a professional in a place of business because that's where you are."

I'm also tired of being the venting person.

So. Just hanging on.

I'm on day 13 of food detox.

Made veggie beef soup. Made coconut milk. I think I may just have to find the best plant milk I can find because I don't really like the homemade stuff. So far I've been doing well with Califia brand.

Have a good day.

Yay! It's Friday! Yeaaaaahhhh!

Day 10

I've assembled the makings for a good veggie beef soup. I'll do that tomorrow or Sunday. The Paleo-On-the-Go beef pot pie last night was super good. This morning I had chia pudding with banana (my favorite). Snack is celery and the last of the cashew cheese. For lunch I have thawing a POTG shepherd's pie (cauliflower mash instead of potatoes) and I'll have another beef pot pie for dinner, I'm thinking.

Next month I have vacation at Bouchercon in New Orleans. I was so looking forward to the food.
But now I'm really worried about the food.

I think I may want to continue this Whole 30 plan.

UPDATE: I took the bull by the horns. There's been hemming and hawing on the 4MA list about going to dinner Wednesday night. So I looked at nearby restaurants for what I could eat within my plan and made a reservation because it will be busy, I'm sure. So there.

No huge plans for the weekend. I have errands to run tomorrow: getting dog food at Petsmart; oil change the vehicle, hair cut would be nice.

Nothing much to watch on regular TV. I'm not interested in the Olympics. I prefer the winter sports to the summer ones. The last summer Olympics held in London had fantastic opening and closing ceremonies. I just find running and jumping and swimming boring.

Have a great weekend!

Friday! Where are you?

So close, yet so far. La sigh.

Not much to talk about today.

Not much has happened since yesterday. Last night I didn't read again; I watched a few more episodes of Motive.

I'm on day 9 of my Whole 30 and I feel rather good. I haven't had caffeine and it's okay.

The only sugar I'm consuming is from fruits. I'm actually eating plenty. I'm going to make a vat of soup this weekend to take care of lunches next week. Today I had my cinnamon apple/chia pudding for breakfast, a couple hard-boiled eggs for morning hungries, a veggie/sausage lasagna for lunch (thank you Paleo-to-Go), celery with cashew cheese for afternoon snack, and something Paleo-to-Go for dinner with riced cauliflower. And water to drink.

Tonight, we'll both be home. Steve will watch Battlebots. I'll probably hang out with him and then go up and read.

Have a great Thursday, y'all.

Think we need an electrical fan

So bananas in almond milk doesn't work. It separates when stored in the fridge. It was a good idea though. I'll try coconut milk next.

But I made cashew "cheese" that was OMG fan-freakin'-tastic.

Perfect for celery which is soooo bland. And I know it's what they use for ricotta substitutes for lasagna and stuff like that. I'm a happy chick! I wanted to lick the bowl I made it in.

Steve has the gun range tonight. Oh, last night. I didn't wind up reading very much. I stupidly flipped channels while I was having dinner and came across the movie Working Girl which I didn't even like when it came out (1988) ....

.... but it was such a flashback to the 80s in all its glory I watched the whole thing. Bad me.

So tonight maybe I'll do better. :)  Have a great Wednesday!

Yeah, I got this

A little better today so far. Last night I made hamburger bombs for Steve that turned out really well; I had a Whole 30 chicken pot pie. I'm on Day 7 of my food detox. Doing well. I have finally figured out a couple things. I've been having chia pudding (made with Almond Milk) for breakfast and it's better with fruit.

The last few days I've been having it with cinnamon apples but his morning I had it with bananas and it was lovely. Then I got to thinking about my homemade almond milk and how to make it taste better while still staying with the guidelines. Ah ha! Bananas. It will help with the flavor AND with the slight thickening of the texture. I'll try it tonight.

At some point in the near future I need to make some veggie soup so I can have ready-to-go for lunch time without stealing from my dinner supply.

Steve has a board meeting tonight. I'm hoping to read a bit and cuddle with the boys.

Keep your vibe up and positive thoughts!

Must be Monday

My brainwaves are stuck in low and I'm having a heckuva time moving up.

So I'm plugging away and listening to music.

I'm on day 6 of my Whole 30 challenge. So far so good. No sugar, no grains, no legumes, no dairy. I made my first batch of almond milk yesterday so that was exciting. I haven't really tasted it fully yet but I will have to get used to the texture -- cow's milk is a little thicker.

But I can do this. No problem.

Have a great day, folks.
