Looks like we made it

TGIF

I've got a haircut tomorrow morning and afternoon sprints but otherwise, no plans for the weekend. Steve's got a tournament to run but I think he only needs to be there in the afternoon with someone else doing the morning. With Keo's infection, I'll be laying low.

Mostly, I hope to get some naps in.

I came across a new release today that intrigued me -- Hello, I'm a mood reader -- so I got it and will start it. THE WEDDING BOX by Toni Blake. Stand alone.

MARRIAGE
Not even a bridal-veil-stealing dog can ruin Haley and Ben’s wedding day. And when Haley’s beloved Aunt Nan gives them a gift that’s not to be opened “until your first big disagreement,” Haley is sure the box will sit gathering dust for a lifetime. After all, she and Ben are the perfect couple. Aren’t they?
MAKING UP
But life comes with stresses. Architect Ben’s career dreams are rooted in losses from his past, while bakery owner Haley has her own firmly-set – and conflicting – plans for how to get to a happy future. Each time they decide to open the gift, though, something stops them, pushing them to solve the issue themselves, and before long, the mysterious box takes on almost mythic proportions. They can’t imagine what’s inside that could fix every marital woe, but they want to save it as long as possible.
MIRACLES
What happens when a problem comes along that can’t be solved and no gift could ever fix? This one might just take believing in miracles.
Published 2024; 225 pages.

I received the new blank journal yesterday via Amazon to update my reading journal in. So I started to do that during sprints last night. I've kept a reading journal since 1999. But around the end of 2019, I got lazy and stopped doing it.

I was keeping track via Goodreads. But it occurred to me that those records could be lost via various reasons. I treasure these records and I'm proud of them. I only list the books, I don't do anything fancy but they bring back reading memories. And last night, I was putting the reads from September 2019 until about September 2021. I had some FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC reads during that period. I discovered Nathan Lowell's books and Elizabeth Moon's Paksenarrion ones. I also had some reads that I did not recognize or remember. And I had some that I wonder why I never got back to that series or author.

So the usual for the next couple days: reading, some crochet, walking Keo, etc. Just de-peopling.

Have a good weekend

Much love,
PK the Bookeemonster
