Party like it's TGIF

 Friday, Happy dance.

We made it. What  a tough week technologically and it's not even Mercury retrograde. My vehicle's been in the shop all week so I've had to drive a shop pickup (yuck). Try un-stuffing a 120 pound Akita into the small "backseat" of a pickup. My computer is about to go obsolete from support and we may have a virus -- computer repair squad can't come until Monday noon-ish. The company that does our email isn't doing email anymore so I had to figure out some things with that. We won't talk about what's going on in the world.

Listening to the audiobook of DIVINE RIVALS by Rebecca Ross. 1st of Letters of Enchantment fantasy series.

After centuries of sleep, the gods are warring again. But eighteen-year-old Iris Winnow just wants to hold her family together. Her mother is suffering from addiction and her brother is missing from the front lines. Her best bet is to win the columnist promotion at the Oath Gazette. To combat her worries, Iris writes letters to her brother and slips them beneath her wardrobe door, where they vanish—into the hands of Roman Kitt, her cold and handsome rival at the paper. When he anonymously writes Iris back, the two of them forge a connection that will follow Iris all the way to the front lines of battle: for her brother, the fate of mankind, and love.

Published 2023; 368 pages.

And a much-anticipated library hold came up today. DARK CORNERS by Megan Goldin. 2nd in Rachel Krall mystery series.

Terence Bailey is about to be released from prison for breaking and entering, though investigators have long suspected him in the murders of six women. As his freedom approaches, Bailey gets a surprise visit from Maddison Logan, a hot, young influencer with a huge social media following. Hours later, Maddison disappears, and police suspect she’s been kidnapped—or worse. Is Maddison’s disappearance connected to her visit to Bailey? Why was she visiting him in the first place? When they hit a wall in the investigation, the FBI reluctantly asks for Rachel’s help in finding the missing influencer. Maddison seems only to exist on social media; she has no family, no friends, and other than in her posts, most people have never seen her. Who is she, really? Using a fake Instagram account, Rachel Krall goes undercover to BuzzCon, a popular influencer conference, where she discovers a world of fierce rivalry that may have turned lethal. When police find the body of a woman with a tattoo of a snake eating its tail, the FBI must consider a chilling possibility: Bailey has an accomplice on the outside and a dangerous obsession with influencers, including Rachel Krell herself. Suddenly a target of a monster hiding in plain sight, Rachel is forced to confront the very real dangers that lurk in the dark corners of the internet.

Published 2023; 343 pages. I may wait to start this on Sunday for a clean beginning to October's 1000 pages read challenge beginning then. I can focus on the Burrows book which I'm really actually enjoying a lot.

I've got sprints to run tomorrow afternoon (5 hours). I hope to get a lot of crocheting done this weekend. I'd like to complete this afghan by Halloween so I can start the other gift one ASAP and have it done by the first week of December. But I'm getting better at it, quicker, etc., so I think it's achievable.

Otherwise, I don't plan on doing much.

Naps, walking Keo, etc., etc.

Have a good weekend

Much love,

PK the Bookeemonster
