Are you sure? It's only been four days.

 Friday. TGIF

So ... this won't come as a shock to you ... I had a "squirrel" moment and interrupted my regularly scheduled reading to start another book.

Currently (also) reading ONCE MORE WITH FEELING by Elissa Sussman. Stand alone.

Then. Katee Rose is living the dream as America's number one pop star, caught in a whirlwind of sold-out concerts, screaming fans, and constant tabloid coverage. Everyone wants to know everything about her and her boyfriend, Ryan LaNeve, the hottest member of adored boy band CrushZone. Katee loves to perform but hates the impossible demands of stardom. Maybe that's why she finds herself in the arms of another CrushZone member, Cal Kirby. Quiet, serious Cal, who's always been a good friend to Katee, is suddenly Cal with the smoldering eyes and very good hands. One unforgettable night is all it takes to blow up Katee's relationship with Ryan, her career, her whole life...
Now. Kathleen Rosenberg is okay with her ordinary existence, and leaving her pop star image in the past. That is, until Cal Kirby shows up with the opportunity of her dreams--a starring role in the Broadway show he's directing and a chance to perform the way she's always wanted. The two haven't spoken since the joint destruction of their careers, and each of them blames the other, making their reunion a tense battle of wits and egos. Katee reluctantly agrees to the musical, as long as she keeps her guard up around Cal. But rehearsals are long, those eyes still smolder, and those hands are still very good. Despite everything, Katee can't deny the chemistry between them. Is it ever a good idea to reignite old flames? Especially if you've been burned in the past?

Published 2023; 416 pages. I'm a sucker for show biz set romances, apparently.

I didn't sleep well last night because of the (stupid) second afghan block. I've been trying for several days to make work. The stitch is no problem. Double crochet. It was getting the count right across and also the edges straight (or even finding the last stitch). I finally got it going reasonably well. And then I was looking at vids to find ways to do better edges and I think I found one to go with. I'm going to take out the three rows I've got going and get back to the basic first row so I can practice that maneuver.

I will have it now at last to work on tonight and tomorrow at the coffee shop.

I have reading sprints tonight at 5pm and Sunday afternoon at 3pm. Lunch on Sunday with my sister. Otherwise, the usual stuff.

It's a beautiful dark rainy day today .... wasted being at work. It would be lovely to nap, to read, to hobby... to nap .... But no.

 STOP THE PRESSES!

I just got an email notice of a book series I love with a new book out THAT I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT

I don't know! But it's jumping the queue tonight. DILIGENCE POINT by Alice Sabo. 6th of 6 in The Tales of Haroon. Fantasy.

Flint had concerns about being in charge of a convocation of all the Chosen on Haroon but was willing to do whatever it took to heal her world. With Steel, Marten and Stash, she had barely arrived at the ancient fort in the desert before things went sideways. Juggling the needs and egos of Hands, Guides, Ministers and representatives of gods she'd never heard of was tricky. The combined volume of their different magics was frightening and chaotic. Despite their best efforts, the damage was deeper than they realized and harder to heal. Rifts to lower planes were opening and the danger of incursion imminent. Flint and her companions would need to fight on multiple fronts to restore the world before the fractures could shatter it.

Published 2023; 205 pages. Isn't that cover gorgeous? The author's use of words somehow tickles my brain and makes me happy.

 Have a good weekend

Much love,

PK the Bookeemonster
