Mood

Currently reading THE TOLLS OF DEATH by Michael Jecks. 17th of 32 in series featuring Simon Puttock, medieval West County bailiff, and Sir Baldwin Furnshill, ex-Templar Knight.

Summer 1323: in the Cornish village of Cardinham, a penniless young woman is found hanged alongside the dead bodies of her children. Passing through the village on the final leg of their long journey home, friends Sir Baldwin de Furnshill and Bailiff Simon Puttock are detained and tasked with leading the investigation. Simon and Baldwin quickly discover the young woman's death is not an isolated incident. And as the escape of a traitor threatens to embroil the country in a new civil war, they must look beyond friendships and family loyalties to find an evil killer - and secure the safety of Cardinham, and all who dwell there.

On TV tonight we've got The Curse of Oak Island and I've got Making the Team. If I make it that long. I didn't sleep well last night. I think the full moon does things to my sleep pattern.

 Have a good day

The two moods of Christmas

We don't have any plans for the long weekend. I've gotten Steve a couple little things but otherwise we're not exchanging gifts. Today, Christmas Eve, we're closing between noon and one. I've got meatballs going in the crock pot. I'll make garlic masked potatoes and Mustard Seed green beans. Tomorrow we'll have turkey dinner. After that ... I don't know.

Saturday, I'll probably go to the bead shop. Otherwise, we're going to relax and lay low.

Merry Christmas to all. Have a very happy and safe holiday.

And have a good long holiday weekend

Much love,

Strike a pose

 Wednesday.

Steve's got the gun range tonight. I'm hoping to make meatballs tonight to put in the crockpot in the morning. I forgot to take the hamburger out this morning. I'll have to do the microwave thaw.

Maybe I could do the baking of Steve's pumpkin pie tonight, too.

Otherwise, I'm tired. I was up and down with the boys last night until midnight-ish so only about 5 hours of real sleep. I'll read then go to bed. Short day tomorrow!

Have a good day

Not going to do anything to this little creep, honest

 Tuesday

I've got The Curse of Oak Island on TV tonight as well as Making the Team.

Since I'll be up until at least 9pm (I know I know), maybe I'll do some beading. Otherwise, some reading before bed.

Have a good day

Much love,

A different perspective helps maybe?

 Monday of a short week.

Currently reading (and sticking with) A BITTER FEAST by Deborah Crombie. 18th of 18 in series featuring Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James, detectives in London

Scotland Yard Detective Superintendent Duncan Kincaid and his wife, Detective Inspector Gemma James, have been invited for a relaxing weekend in the Cotswolds, one of Britain’s most enchanting regions, famous for its rolling hills, golden cottages, and picturesque villages. Duncan, Gemma, and their children are guests at Beck House, the family estate of Melody Talbot, Gemma’s detective sergeant. The Talbot family is wealthy, prominent, and powerful—Melody’s father is the publisher of one of London’s largest and most influential newspapers. The centerpiece of this glorious fall getaway is a posh charity harvest luncheon catered by up-and-coming chef Viv Holland. After fifteen years in London’s cut-throat food scene, Viv has returned to the Gloucestershire valleys of her childhood and quickly made a name for herself with her innovative meals based on traditional cuisine but using fresh local ingredients. Attended by the local well-to-do as well as national press food bloggers and restaurant critics, the event could make Viv a star. But a tragic car accident and a series of mysterious deaths rock the estate and pull Duncan and Gemma into the investigation. It soon becomes clear that the killer has a connection with Viv’s pub—or, perhaps, with Beck House itself. Does the truth lie in the past? Or is it closer to home, tied up in the tangled relationships and bitter resentments between the staff at Beck House and Viv’s new pub? Or is it more personal, entwined with secrets hidden by Viv and those closest to her?

I spent Saturday afternoon at the bead shop. Nice to be around my friends. I was working on a little project for a Christmas present for my friend Kim. I'd seen on Etsy little beaded bracelets that have a name, word, or meaning phrase spelled out in morse code.

An example there of a very simple one. I worked on that gift idea yesterday.

Nothing really on TV tonight. I'm hoping to drive up to the Rims and see if I can view the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction. Fingers crossed.

But what will typically happen is:

Have a good day

Weekend ahoy!

 TGIF!

Our receptionist has been gone today and half of yesterday, out sick with tummy issues.

I'm glad it's the weekend. No real organized plans. Because of Candy being gone, I haven't been able to run the errand was going to on my lunch hours so I'll need to make a stop tomorrow before I'll probably go to the bead shop. It's the last Saturday before Christmas so I probably should.

Beading, reading, napping, cleaning. The usual stuff. Sorry. That's about it.

 Have a good weekend

Much love,

Typical

 Wednesday

Steve's got the gun range tonight. I'm hoping to do some binging/streaming while beading. I didn't last night.

I think I'm still reading slumping.

I'm sorta wanting to read but then I'm not feeling motivated so I don't do it.

Well, that's all I got for now.

  Have a good day

Much love,

Monday back to work downer

 Monday

It was a quiet cold weekend. I didn't go anywhere. All the beading I tried to do didn't amount to anything. What ever is opposite of 'being in the zone' that is where I was. I did start to do some bead organizing.

Nothing on TV tonight. I'm not sure what going to happen for dinner. I made the mistake of taking an afternoon nap yesterday so I didn't sleep very soundly last night. A good running start at it tonight would be lovely.

Have a good day

Much love,

The many moods of Friday

 TGIF

No real plans for the weekend. I may or may not go to the bead shop. I don't need to. And I've gone the two or three Saturdays in a row so I should stay home with the boys.

Otherwise, I would really like to do some beading, cleaning, napping, reading.

 Have a good weekend

Much love,

Middle of the week

 Wednesday.

I've been book slumping lately. I'm hoping this will knock me out of it. THE EYES OF THE QUEEN by Oliver Clements. 1st of new Agents the Crown series.

After centuries locked in an endless cycle of poverty, persecution, and barbarity, Europe has finally emerged into the Age of Enlightenment. Scientists, philosophers, scholars, and poets alike believe this to be a new era of reason and hope for all. But the forces of darkness haven’t completely dissipated, as Spain hunts and butchers any who dare to defy its ironclad Catholic orthodoxy. Only one nation can fight the black shadow that threatens this new age, and that is Britain, now ruled by a brilliant young Queen Elizabeth I. But although she may be brave and headstrong, Elizabeth knows she cannot win this war simply by force of arms. After her armies have been slashed in half, her treasury is on its knees. Elizabeth needs a new kind of weapon forged to fight a new kind of war, in which stealth and secrecy, not bloodshed, are the means. In this tense situation, Her Majesty’s Secret Service is born with the charismatic John Dee at its head. A scholar, a soldier, and an alchemist, Dee is loyal only to the truth and to his Queen. And for her, the woman he’s forbidden from loving, he is prepared to risk his life.

Pantone, the color company, has announced it's colors for 2021. To recap, 2020's color was classic. blue.

Pantone’s Color of the Year choices are based on the Pantone Color Institute’s research into trends percolating across fashion, interior design, architecture, and art. These are colors you will likely see more of in the next 12 to 24 months because they are meant to define something intrinsic to the zeitgeist.

2021 is .....

...  not one but two colors, designed to create the sensation of a fresh sunrise over rocky terrain. The colors are called Illuminating, a yellow that appears like the skin of a ripe lemon, and Ultimate Gray, which resembles wet cement.

..."Alone, a gray would be stagnant and depressing, while a yellow would be overly ebullient. Together, Pantone argues, the pair is meant to be both optimistic and thoughtful.

“[Illuminating] is definitely an aspirational color, no question,” says Eiseman. “But I think with the solidity of the gray . . . when you juxtapose those colors against each other, the concept is clear, ‘Here’s what we’re hoping for. And this is the solid grounding to get us there.'”

In honor or the new colors, I've decided I'll make a bracelet with them. Using this pattern:

Using bright yellow, light gray and dark gray. Some day. I did pick up the beads today during lunch.

Nothing on TV tonight so maybe I'll watch some streaming show. Steve has the gun range but he's having stomach issues so I'm hoping he won't be going. I didn't bead last night so hopefully I'll do some this evening.

Have a good day

 Much love,

PK the Bookeemonster
