Ahhhh Friday

TGIF

My bead class got cancelled tomorrow. The teacher had a tumble and needs a couple days to recover.

This class was originally postponed from July 25th so this is the second postponement.

The good news is that Ann is ok, just a bruised shoulder. And probably embarrassed.

And I'll probably change my color scheme by the time we get together.

In the meantime, here's the other two bracelets I worked on this week.

No plans this weekend. Just the usual stuff now.

Have a good day

Thursday.

Here's something interesting:

"A caller to a radio talk show recently shared that his wife was hospitalized and told she had COVID and only a couple of days left to live. A doctor friend suggested she be tested for Legionnaires' Disease because she wore the same mask every day all day long. Turns out it WAS Legionnaires Disease from the moisture and bacteria in her mask. She was given antibiotics and within two days was better. WHAT IF these "spikes" in COVID are really something else due to mandated mask wearing?"

Here's the bracelet I finished yesterday. This was the bracelet we made in the last class but I missed it because I was feeling under the weather.

It's looks better in person. So sparkly. We have bead class on Saturday. This is the project we're doing:

Initially I was going to go with a navy and raisin theme. As of yesterday, I may be going with a purple and copper color scheme. I never know really. I'm such a mood beader.

Steve is out of town but back later tonight working on a garage door for a cousin. Nothing really on TV. So I'll either bead or read.

Have a good day

Much love,

About to start MEGHAN AND HARRY: The Real Story by Lady Colin Campbell.

The fall from popular grace of Prince Harry, the previously adulated brother of the heir to the British throne, as a consequence of his marriage to the beautiful and dynamic Hollywood actress and "Suits star" Meghan Markle, makes for fascinating reading in this groundbreaking book from Lady Colin Campbell, who is the New York Times bestselling biographer of books on Princess Diana, the Queen Mother, and Queen Elizabeth’s marriage. With a unique breadth of insight, Lady Colin Campbell goes behind the scenes, speaking to friends, relations, courtiers, and colleagues on both sides of the Atlantic to reveal the most unexpected royal story since King Edward VIII's abdication. She highlights the dilemmas involved and the issues that lurk beneath the surface, revealing why the couple decided to step down as senior royals. She analyses the implications of the actions of a young and ambitious Duke and Duchess of Sussex, in love with each other and with the empowering lure of fame and fortune, and leads the reader through the maze of contradictions Meghan and Harry have created—while also evoking the Californian culture that has influenced the couple's conduct. Meghan and Harry: The Real Story exposes how the royal couple tried and failed to change the royal system—by adapting it to their own needs and ambitions—and, upon failing, how they decided to create a new system—and life—for themselves.

Published 2020; 415 pages. I hate these two people. They had so much and chose "woke" and victimhood when the royal family didn't make them (minor royalty with Harry 6th in line) the center of the universe. Spoiled entitled celebrity-hungry money-grubbing people.

Elsewhere in the world:

Here's a video about it:

Currently re-reading THE BOY'S TALE by Margaret Frazer. 5th of 17th in series featuring Dame Frevisse, a medieval nun in Oxfordshire, England.

A dark lady rides back into the life of Dame Frevisse, bearing with her two small boys haunted by the touch of death and scandal. Nine men lie dead on the road behind them, victims of the grim fate which relentlessly pursues them. Some seek to turn them away, but when they request sanctuary Frevisse is bound by her holy oaths to grant it. But in welcoming them within the walls of St. Frideswide, has Dame Frevisse allowed death to stalk the nunnery's halls? When she begins to untangle the mystery of these strange guests, the truth she discovers may be enough to doom them all. Forced to keep secrets better left untold even from the nuns of her own order, Frevisse is caught in a crucible between faith and duty. To learn the boys’ names is to be drawn into a conspiracy of shame. To hear the boys’ tale is to face death.

 Published 1995; 244 pages.

I finished a bracelet this weekend. I'll show photo soon. And I'll be hopefully finishing another tonight.

I'm making enchiladas for dinner. We'll probably watch Antique Roadshow.

Have a good day

No official plans for the weekend. I may stop by the bead shop, we'll see. No class this weekend. No gun tourneys for Steve. Stay home and stay cool and relax.

Starting to read DIVING INTO THE WRECK by Kristine Kathryn Rusch. 1st of 8 in SFF series.

Hurtling through the blackness of space, Boss detects a mysterious blip from an unknown source that sets her heart pounding… Boss dives derelict space vessels, for money, yes, but more for their historical value. So, when she uncovers the find of a lifetime, she enlists the best divers she knows to help her pursue it—off the grid and under the Empire’s radar. Boss’s discovery leads her and her team to the Room of Lost Souls. Boss remembers the Room. It haunts her. Her mother died there. Now, a client wants her to go back to help uncover the Room’s mysteries. But the truths they discover might destroy everything Boss holds sacred. Because the more they discover, the less they realize they know—and the more it will cost them all.

Published 2009; 336 pages.

So beading, reading, napping, cleaning.

Thursday

Closer to the end of the week.

Ryker had a vet appointment today to get a CT scan so they came to work today. They once again discover how boring it is at work.

Punctuated by fleeting moments of interruption.

We'll get CT results probably next week.

Currently reading PRESUMPTION OF GUILT by Marti Green. 2nd of 6 in the Innocent Prisoners Project series

Twelve years ago, teenager Molly Singer was tried and convicted for murdering her parents. She was sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison, torn away from her newborn daughter, and forsaken by those closest to her. But now, a series of anonymous letters proclaim her innocence—and point a finger at a deadly conspiracy. Attorney Dani Trumball specializes in defending the wrongfully imprisoned at the Help Innocent Prisoners Project. But taking Molly’s case means taking on a hard-hearted justice system that doesn’t like do-overs…and a merciless killer who will do anything to keep a secret history of dirty deals buried. Only the truth will set Molly free and reunite her broken family. And only Dani has any chance of finding it in a showdown that will push her legal talents—and her survival skills—to the very edge.
Published 2014; 294 pages. One of my favorite sub-genres is cold cases.

Nothing really on TV tonight. I didn't bead last night so I need to do SOMETHING this evening. I did my usual stop by the bead store on my Wednesday lunch yesterday and Ann, my favorite lady, was starting a chainmail project. My friend Todd has a side business doing chainmail but I didn't think contemporary jewelry with his stuff (He's into medieval stuff). But looking online not only are there different patterns but also very pretty colors of chain.

I'm thinking of trying it out. It's just jump rings connected I don't do that well so this may be an interesting way to get a lot of practice. Jump rings are used in beading.

Have a good day
