It's coming.

We're expecting our first major snow storm starting tonight.

I have a forum tomorrow afternoon with Danielle Egnew. Since she's moved to Bozeman, these don't happen that often anymore but if the weather is too bad then I'll just hunker down.

There's also music night tomorrow night but I won't be going. With my cold for the two weeks, I have no singing voice and I can't do two events on the same day -- I can't be gone that much from the boys.

My Cowboys WON last night!! Against New Orleans!

Looks like other than Outlander, I've got nothing on TV on Sunday.

Outlander "Savages:

Claire's medical expertise proves invaluable, but she begins to fear for her life when tragedy strikes her patients' household. Jamie and Young Ian travel to a nearby town to recruit settlers for Fraser's Ridge.

So otherwise the usual stuff. Reading, napping, Interneting, cleaning, etc. You, know ... plans.

Have a good weekend.

The call has gone out

Well the cold isn't quite gone. I had a yuge coughing fit last night. So I decided I needed more info so I went to the doctor.

Oh yes!! Yes! Yeah, I wish it were one of these doctors. No such luck. Since I had pneumonia earlier this year an x-ray was done. I'm clear. Just a stupid viral cold.

No, not Skittles pox. Oy.

Nothing on TV except the football slaughter. My Boys are playing ....  New Orleans. It's going to be bad.

I don't think I'll watch much of it.

Tomorrow, the beginning of a snow storm. Bah.

Have a good day

Not much to write about today. Just another day.

Steve has the gun range tonight. I've not nothing on TV. So hopefully I'll either read or study/research.

On the plus side, my cold finally seems to be waning.

Have a good day

Hiding in plain sight

Day two of a long week...

Tonight on TV, This Is Us,"The Beginning is the End is the Beginning":

Kevin arrives at the Ville his father served in. Kate pursues a new opportunity. Randall debates Councilman Solomon Brown. In the past, Jack struggles to get through to his brother.

Hunh, Christmas break Fall Finales are starting. Bah.

Also tonight, I haven't mentioned because I haven't fully been watching the new episodes yet, The Curse of Oak Island, "Depth Perception":

The seismic results reveal the existence of a mysterious underground chamber; Gary and Jack make a discovery suggesting another Templar connection...

I finished ETHAN OF ATHOS last night. Now reading DARK SACRED NIGHT by Michael Connelly. 2nd of 2 in series featuring Renée Ballard, a young detective in Hollywood, California, demoted to night shift (31st of the Bosch Universe as they're calling all three series).

Detective Renée Ballard is working the night beat--known in LAPD slang as "the late show"--and returns to Hollywood Station in the early hours to find a stranger rifling through old file cabinets. The intruder is retired detective Harry Bosch, working a cold case that has gotten under his skin. Ballard can't let him go through department records, but when he leaves, she looks into the case herself and feels a deep tug of empathy and anger. She has never been the kind of cop who leaves the job behind at the end of her shift--and she wants in. The murder, unsolved, was of fifteen-year-old Daisy Clayton, a runaway on the streets of Hollywood who was brutally killed, her body left in a dumpster like so much trash. Now Ballard joins forces with Bosch to find out what happened to Daisy, and to finally bring her killer to justice. Along the way, the two detectives forge a fragile trust, but this new partnership is put to the test when the case takes an unexpected and dangerous turn.

Published 2018; 444 pages.

That's about it for today. Have a good one

I remember the good times ...

And we're back.

It was a nice four days off but I accomplished nothing because of this stupid cold. I was just tired a lot and coughing. But I suppose it was a good thing I had the four days to sleep and get better.

It was nice. I read quite a bit actually. We watched Mission Impossible: Fallout. I was flipping channels Friday night and case across on AMC, The Slipper and the Rose. A 1970s musical of the Cinderella story. I've seen it many times but it is nice for nostalgia to view it again.

In my reading, I finished a rather poorly written (but free thank goodness) debut called THE FRAME-UP by Meghan Scott Molin.

MG Martin lives and breathes geek culture. She even works as a writer for the comic book company she idolized as a kid. But despite her love of hooded vigilantes, MG prefers her comics stay on the page. But when someone in LA starts recreating crime scenes from her favorite comic book, MG is the LAPD’s best—and only—lead. She recognizes the golden arrow left at the scene as the calling card of her favorite comic book hero. The thing is…superheroes aren’t real. Are they? When too-handsome-for-his-own-good Detective Kildaire asks for her comic book expertise, MG is more than up for the adventure. Unfortunately, MG has a teeny little tendency to not follow rules. And her off-the-books sleuthing may land her in a world of trouble. Because for every superhero, there is a supervillain. And the villain of her story may be closer than she thinks…
Published 2018; 287 pages. It was the one I chose for the November First Read offerings from Amazon Kindle. I chose it for the comic book culture which I enjoy reading about. This was rather not good in the too-stupid category.

Then I read BREAKING COVER by Stella Rimington. 9th of 10 in series featuring Liz Carlyle, an agent in MI-5 in London

A new cold war is coming, and Liz Carlyle is about to find herself on very thin ice. Still reeling from the loss of the man she loved in a botched antiterrorist operation in Paris, Carlyle has been posted to MI5's counter-espionage desk, where her bosses hope the relative quiet might give her the chance to find her feet again. However, they hadn't counted on the aftershocks of Russia's incursions into Crimea and President Putin's determination to silence those who would oppose him, wherever they may be living in the world. As a result, Liz soon finds herself on the hunt for a Russian spy on British soil--a spy whose intentions are unknown, and whose presence is a threat not only to Russian dissidents living in England but also to the security of the nation itself. And with MI5 and MI6 coming under painful public scrutiny in the post-Edward Snowden world, for Liz and her team, security is something that is beginning to feel increasingly remote.

Published 2016; 368 pages.

And I'm currently reading ETHAN OF ATHOS by Lois McMaster Bujold. 7th of 13 in the Vorkosigan Saga.

Dr. Ethan Urquhart, chief biologist from the all-male world of Athos, must travel to other planets in search of new genetic material, as their current supply of ovarian tissue is no longer viable. Ethan encounters what to him is practically an alien species -- women! -- and also finds himself hunted by Cetagandan ghem lords and helped out by Miles' Dendarii officer Elli Quinn.

Published 1986; 224 pages. This one does not feature Miles except indirectly but is somewhat next if one is going chronologically.

Tonight on TV, there is Arrow "The Slabside Redemption":

Oliver makes a choice that will affect his entire life, as well as the lives of everyone he cares about.
I'm hoping to get to bed at a good time. Today was a long day without naps.

Have a good one

Four day weekend!

Oh happy. The only one of the year.

Tonight I have the finale of The Little Drummer Girl miniseries, "Episodes 5 & 6":

Charlie has been taken by the Palestinians and trains in Lebanon. Now deep undercover, no one can save her if she is exposed as a spy. As she prepares for her grand finale, it is unclear who's side she is fighting for.
The AMC programmers are very clever doing this three nights in a row to take advantage of new viewing habits of binge watching. Plays havoc on sleep when you have a cold. Steve will be missing this part because of having to be at the gun range but he can catch up later.  Kinda sucky for him but them's the breaks.

Other shows on the horizon:

On Sunday's NCIS Los Angeles, “Diamond in the Rough”:

The NCIS team investigates the home invasion of Navy Captain Dean Hadlow, who was entertaining his friend, General Omer Abidi of Pakistan, when robbers successfully stole money, jewelry and highly classified information. Also, Deeks and Kensi interview candidates to manage the bar

Also, we have the fall finale of The Walking Dead,  “Evolution”

A small rescue mission braves a dangerous herd in their hunt for a missing comrade, only to discover a surprising threat that could doom them all.

I'll probably finish reading TOMBLAND by CJ Sansom this weekend. I've got about a quarter left -- it's a BIG book. And so many other books that I need to get to. Yikes.

And I must must must must get back to writing my book.

It's just going to be Steve and I for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow so it's just going to be the basics and lots of it -- turkey, stuffing, potatoes and gravy. Football (Come on, Cowboys). Naps.

I may do my annual Thanksgiving post tomorrow. Not sure about Friday.

Have a good day and weekend!

Sick of being sick

So tired of coughing up a lung.

Good thing there's two, right?  So last night I didn't watch Arrow. I wound up watching AMC's miniseries premiere of The Little Drummer Girl.

Tonight is part two.

Charlie drives explosives to Austria, while Becker races to save her from a fatal misstep. Tortured by her feelings for Becker, she is drawn deeper into the network

Another night staying up to watch until 9:30. Not much sleep for me when I really should be. And tomorrow will be night three but happily we'll then have a four-day weekend.

Also tonight is This Is Us, "Six Thanksgivings":

The Pearsons have an unconventional Thanksgiving dinner. In the past, Jack, Rebecca and the big three spend Thanksgiving with Miguel.
But I'll probably have to watch that sometime this weekend. And Arrow. And Manifest.

Have a good day

Much love,
