New week.
Over the weekend I finished reading the fantasy by Elizabeth Moon -- also the end of the series.
I started and finished HEIRS AND ASSIGNS by Majorie Eccles Featuring Herbert Reardon, a detective inspector in late 1920s Shropshire, England
November, 1928. Family and friends have gathered at the Shropshire country home of Penrose Llewellyn to celebrate the retired wealthy businessman’s 60th birthday. But the morning after what should have been a convivial supper party, their host is found dead in his bed—and the circumstances look decidedly suspicious. As he questions the victim’s nearest and dearest, DI Herbert Reardon discovers there are several longstanding secrets lurking amongst the Llewellyn clan—and he is convinced that not everyone is telling him the truth, or at least not the whole truth. Those who stand to inherit most from Pen Llewellyn’s will—if it can be found—are under the strongest suspicion, and among them hides a ruthless killer.
Published 2015; 220 pages.
And I started and finished TRANS GALACTIC INSURANCE by Andrew Moriarty. 1st of 4 in Adventures of a Jump Space Accountant series.
The Galactic Empire disappeared a lifetime ago. Jake Stewart doesn't care, he needs to earn a living. He fled his station in the outer Belt, enrolled in the merchant academy, and snagged a scholarship. The future looks bright. But a crooked boss, some paperwork shenanigans, and a freeloading best friend put him in a bind. When he's accused of a murder he didn't commit he goes on the run from the Planetary Militia. There's only his wits and a suspiciously helpful pretty girl between him and jail. Can he trust her to prove his innocence? Or does she have another agenda?
Published 2017; 287 pages.
I'm not sure yet what I'll be starting next.
Tonight we have dinner, watch some hockey and Street Outlaws.
Have a good day
Much love,
PK the Bookeemonster
