I am smiling

It's only Tuesday. New guys seem to working out ok on day two. We are hopeful.

About to start THE BODY KEEPER by Anne Frasier. 3rd of 3 in series featuring Jude Fontaine, a homicide detective who had been held captive in an underground cell for three years, in Minneapolis

A boy’s frozen body is found trapped in the ice of a Minneapolis lake. The horrifying discovery leads Detective Jude Fontaine and her partner, Uriah Ashby, to more bodies in the ice, all of twelve-year-old boys missing for twenty years. Then, in one of the worst blizzards the city has ever seen, a four-year-old is abandoned on Jude’s doorstep. The child can’t tell them where he’s from, who his parents are, or how he got there. He doesn’t even know his name. But in his unspoken language, Jude reads something horrifying—a connection to the dead boys. Now a four-year-old with no name may be the only key to a twenty-year-old, very cold case.

Published 2019; 300 pages.

Also re-reading THE DRAGONBONE CHAIR by Tad Williams. 1st of Memory Sorrow & Thorn fantasy trilogy.

A war fueled by the powers of dark sorcery is about to engulf the peaceful land of Osten Ard—for Prester John, the High King, lies dying. And with his death, the Storm King, the undead ruler of the elf-like Sithi, seizes the chance to regain his lost realm through a pact with the newly ascended king. Knowing the consequences of this bargain, the king’s younger brother joins with a small, scattered group of scholars, the League of the Scroll, to confront the true danger threatening Osten Ard. Simon, a kitchen boy from the royal castle unknowingly apprenticed to a member of this League, will be sent on a quest that offers the only hope of salvation, a deadly riddle concerning long-lost swords of power. Compelled by fate and perilous magics, he must leave the only home he’s ever known and face enemies more terrifying than Osten Ard has ever seen, even as the land itself begins to die.

Published 1988. 668 pages. I can't remember when I first read it ... maybe when it first came out? A new trilogy is happening and I found I needed to refresh my memory on the events of the first.

Nothing on TV tonight. Steve has a board meeting. I started the receptionist's bracelet last night. Dang, those beads are tiny!

So I ordered from Amazon and received a lamp/magnifying glass thingy. I did a cursory try with it at lunch today -- it makes SUCH a big difference.

The bracelet will be gorgeous when done. But it will be meticulous work with the 19 different colors switching just about every bead.

And that is what I'll be doing tonight.

Have a great day

Much love,
