Halloween Eve Eve

 TGIF

Currently listening to the audiobook A STITCH IN TIME by Kelley Armstrong. 1st of paranormal-ish trilogy.

Thorne Manor has always been haunted…and it has always haunted Bronwyn Dale. As a young girl, Bronwyn could pass through a time slip in her great-aunt's house, where she visited William Thorne, a boy her own age, born two centuries earlier. After a family tragedy, the house was shuttered and Bronwyn was convinced that William existed only in her imagination. Now, twenty years later Bronwyn inherits Thorne Manor. And when she returns, William is waiting. William Thorne is no longer the boy she remembers. He’s a difficult and tempestuous man, his own life marred by tragedy and a scandal that had him retreating to self-imposed exile in his beloved moors. He’s also none too pleased with Bronwyn for abandoning him all those years ago. As their friendship rekindles and sparks into something more, Bronwyn must also deal with ghosts in the present version of the house. Soon she realizes they are linked to William and the secret scandal that drove him back to Thorne Manor. To build a future, Bronwyn must confront the past.

I'll be going to the bead store tomorrow. It's Barb's birthday on Monday. They're having cake and I was going to stop to get some flowers. And it will be closing within the month. And I really really really really need to work on my Found Objects.

 Yeah, yeah.

I've got a new episode of The Great British Baking Show to watch and Making the Team (Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders) tonight. And then the usual weekend stuff.

 Have a good weekend

 Thursday

Steve stayed home today trying to hold off a cold. And our salesperson is also out. So just me and the receptionist in the office today.

 But tomorrow is Friday.

Not much going on. I'm still here. So just checking in.

Just gonna figure out dinner this evening and then read or something.

Have a good day

 Wednesday

Steve isn't going to the gun range tonight. Just needs a break.

(Good Lord, I love that scene in the Sherlock series. This is Moriarty. Fabulous)

Which means I'll have to feed him and that means I have figure out something for dinner tonight.

I really need to do some beading but I guess we'll see how it goes.

Have a good day

Come out? No, I'm ok here.

 Tuesday

I think I might be reading MURDER AT MALLOWAN HALL by Colleen Cambridge. Debut of Phyllida Bright history mystery series.

Tucked away among Devon’s rolling green hills, Mallowan Hall combines the best of English tradition with the modern conveniences of 1930. Housekeeper Phyllida Bright, as efficient as she is personable, manages the large household with an iron fist in her very elegant glove. In one respect, however, Mallowan Hall stands far apart from other picturesque country houses . . . The manor is home to archaeologist Max Mallowan and his famous wife, Agatha Christie. Phyllida is both loyal to and protective of the crime writer, who is as much friend as employer. An aficionado of detective fiction, Phyllida has yet to find a gentleman in real life half as fascinating as Mrs. Agatha’s Belgian hero, Hercule Poirot. But though accustomed to murder and its methods as frequent topics of conversation, Phyllida is unprepared for the sight of a very real, very dead body on the library floor . . . A former Army nurse, Phyllida reacts with practical common sense—and a great deal of curiosity. It soon becomes clear that the victim arrived at Mallowan Hall under false pretenses during a weekend party. Now, Phyllida not only has a houseful of demanding guests on her hands—along with a distracted, anxious staff—but hordes of reporters camping outside. When another dead body is discovered—this time, one of her housemaids—Phyllida decides to follow in M. Poirot’s footsteps to determine which of the Mallowans’ guests is the killer. With help from the village’s handsome physician, Dr. Bhatt, Mr. Dobble, the butler, along with other household staff, Phyllida  assembles the clues. Yet, she is all too aware that the killer must still be close at hand and poised to strike again. And only Phyllida’s wits will prevent her own story from coming to an abrupt end ...

Nothing really on TV tonight. Curse of Oak Island's new season begins next week and they've been doing "review" type of episodes to gear up to it. Tonight is such a night.

I really need to start beading in the evenings during the week. If I didn't get up so early in the mornings I could stay up later and work an hour or so.

 That's about it.

 Have a good day

Yawning or screaming? ... Yes

 Monday

I read over the weekend, RULE OF EVIDENCE by John G. Hemry. 3rd of 4 in JAG in Space SFF series.

At the very edge of South Asian Alliance territory, the USS Michaelson is conducting maneuvers alongside her sister ship, the USS Maury, in a show of military strength. The Michaelson’s legal officer, Lieutenant Paul Sinclair is pleased at the chance to see Lieutenant Jen Shen, who is serving aboard the Maury as an engineer. The operation is going by the numbers—until the Maury is wracked by devastating explosions and its engineering section is destroyed. Jen, as the sole survivor in Engineering, is suspected of negligence—or worse, sabotage—and faces court-martial. Now Paul must find out what really caused the explosions. But the more he learns, the more he faces the terrible possibility that the woman he loves may be guilty of sabotage and murder...

Published 2005; 285 pages.

I didn't go to the bead shop. I stayed with the boys. I only did one FOC necklace but I'm going to redo it because it's strung too tight so that it buckles and I want to simplify it a little. I just wasn't in the beading zone.

So I read and binged an HGTV show called Good Bones.

So really, the goal is to get through the day, go home, deal with dinner for all members of the house hold, and then close out the world and rejuvenate.

 Have a good day

Fridays just feel different

 TGIF

Steve has a gun class tomorrow to help teach so I'll be staying home instead of going to the bead shop. It's ok. I need to work on my FOC and it is sometimes a bother to move all my stuff with me.

Just a reminder, that's my FOC this month.

They've remade the DUNE movie and it is out this weekend. The first, in the 80s was SO BAD. The SciFi Channel's miniseries in  2000 was okay.

I'm sure the remake now has been PC'd and twisted for climate change or something. But I'll watch it. It's available via streaming on HBOMax, which I have.

I'm ready for the weekend. That's about it.

 (I am ready)

Have a good weekend

Started out ok ...

Thursday. Receptionist was in in the morning ... and left at lunch.

 Sigh.

Nothing on TV. I need to get beading in the evenings. But usually during the week there isn't a lot of time to get going on it. And sometimes I'm tired. And all kinds of excuses. But I may just read and go to bed.

Have a good day

Much love,

She called in again?

Wednesday. But not SO bad. Yes, our receptionist called in sick again but she came in at one so I could go to the bead shop.

Steve has the gun range tonight. There's so much I SHOULD do.... Organize beading stuff, MAKE beading stuff, make some Verde Chicken Chili for lunches, etc....

But I could also very easily just read and hang with the boys. Hmmm.

That's about it for today.

 Have a good day

 Much love,

Which panda mood are you?

Answer: All of the above. Receptionist out today.

You know, I've had to work through being sick many many times, including pneumonia and cellulitis. Throw some dirt on it!

Nothing on TV. I won't be beading tonight. I'll probably read. Hey, new today (at last!) is WELL MATCHED, 3rd of 3 in series

Single mother April Parker has lived in Willow Creek for twelve years with a wall around her heart. On the verge of being an empty nester, she’s decided to move on from her quaint little town, and asks her friend Mitch for his help with some home improvement projects to get her house ready to sell.  Mitch Malone is known for being the life of every party, but mostly for the attire he wears to the local Renaissance Faire—a kilt (and not much else) that shows off his muscled form to perfection. While he agrees to help April, he needs a favor too: she'll pretend to be his girlfriend at an upcoming family dinner, so that he can avoid the lectures about settling down and having a more “serious” career than high school coach and gym teacher. April reluctantly agrees, but when dinner turns into a weekend trip, it becomes hard to tell what's real and what's been just for show. But when the weekend ends, so must their fake relationship.  As summer begins, Faire returns to Willow Creek, and April volunteers for the first time. When Mitch's family shows up unexpectedly, April pretends to be Mitch's girlfriend again...and it doesn't feel so fake anymore. Despite their obvious connection, April insists they’ve just been putting on an act. But when there’s the chance for something real, she has to decide whether to change her plans—and open her heart—for the kilt-wearing hunk who might just be the love of her life.

Published 2021; 335 pages. If you haven't read the first book, WELL MET. Do it. I'm so happy.

It's a dark, cool day. Totally wasted at work. But it does lend itself to soup and grilled cheese which what we're having for dinner.

 That's about it.

Much love,
