I'm ready to go now

Thursday

Keo's not feeling very well today. The vet wouldn't commit to ringworm until the lab results come back in a week. She would say that he has a bacterial infection and a little ear infection. He's on antibiotic and ear drops until the tests come back.

I finished CITY SPIES: CITY OF THE DEAD. 5 stars. Almost a cliffhanger ending.

The library holds ... they overflow. They overwhelm. It's not a world-ending-saving problem ... but it's a problem.

I've got two more books to try for Vamptember. I promised Stormi that I would give it a good attempt.

I just don't find them attractive.

SOULLESS by Gail Carriger. 1st of 5 in the Parasol Protectorate series.

Alexia Tarabotti is laboring under a great many social tribulations. First, she has no soul. Second, she's a spinster whose father is both Italian and dead. Third, she was rudely attacked by a vampire, breaking all standards of social etiquette. Where to go from there? From bad to worse apparently, for Alexia accidentally kills the vampire--and then the appalling Lord Maccon (loud, messy, gorgeous, and werewolf) is sent by Queen Victoria to investigate. With unexpected vampires appearing and expected vampires disappearing, everyone seems to believe Alexia responsible. Can she figure out what is actually happening to London's high society? Will her soulless ability to negate supernatural powers prove useful or just plain embarrassing? Finally, who is the real enemy, and do they have treacle tart?

Published 2009; 357 pages. I have the ebook and the audiobook from the library.

And I found one I think might REALLY work. Scarlet by Genevieve Cogman. 1st of 2 in Scarlet Revolution series.

Revolution is a bloodthirsty business . . . especially when vampires are involved. It is 1793 and the French Revolution is in full swing. Vampires—usually rich and aristocratic—have slaked the guillotine’s thirst in large numbers. The mysterious Scarlet Pimpernel, a disguised British noble, and his League are heroically rescuing dozens of aristocrats from execution, both human and vampire. And soon they will have an ace up their sleeves--Eleanor Dalton. Eleanor is working as a housemaid on the estate of a vampire Baroness. Her highest aspiration is to one day become a modiste. But when the Baroness hosts a mysterious noble and his wife, they tell Eleanor she is the spitting image of a French aristocrat, and they convince her to journey to France to aid them in a daring scheme. Soon, Eleanor finds herself in Paris, swept up in magic and intrigue—and chaos—beyond her wildest dreams. But there’s more to fear than ardent Revolutionaries. For Eleanor stumbles across a centuries-old war between vampires and their fiercest enemy. And they’re out for blood. . . .

Published 2023; 339 pages. I love and adore the Scarlet Pimpernel so this has a fighting chance. And I've read this author before and liked that.

Sprints tonight. Much crocheting. You're shocked and surprised. I know.

Have a good day

Much love,
