But why?

Wednesday

I took Keo to the vet yesterday to figure out the "rash" on his cheek that I can't get ahead of. They took a scraping to see it was mites. It wasn't. Long story short, they sedated him to take a biopsy to check if it's lupus. He has to wear the cone of shame for two weeks while the stitches heal. He doesn't quite know how to maneuver in it yet.

We'll find out maybe by the end of the week what the result is. I wouldn't be surprised if it was that diagnosis. It's an autoimmune disease and given Keo's history, again, I'm not surprised. There are two kinds of lupus in dogs, this would be the second kind affects the skin. Treatment is topical and steroids I think.

About to start a library hold that came up today, THE HURRICANE WARS by Thea Guanzon. 1st of 2 in fantasy duology.

All Talasyn has ever known is the Hurricane Wars. Growing up an orphan in a nation under siege by the ruthless Night Emperor, Talasyn has found her family among the soldiers who fight for freedom. But she is hiding a deadly secret: light magic courses through her veins, a blazing power believed to have been wiped out years ago that can cut through the Night Empire's shadows. Prince Alaric, the emperor's only son and heir, has been forged into a weapon by his father. Tasked with obliterating any threats to the Night Empire's rule with the strength of his armies and mighty Shadow magic, Alaric has never been bested. That is until he sees Talasyn burning brightly on the battlefield with the magic that killed his grandfather, turned his father into a monster, and ignited the Hurricane Wars. In a clash of light and dark, their powers merge and create a force the likes of which has never been seen. Talasyn and Alaric both know this war can only end with them. But a greater threat is coming, and the strange new magic they can create together could be the only way to overcome it. Thrust into an uneasy alliance, they will confront the secrets at the heart of the war and find, in each other, a searing passion--one that could save their world...or destroy it.

Published 2023; 472 pages. Library book so it jumps the queue.

Steve's got the gun range tonight. I got going on the wedding afghan and I'm REALLY liking the yarn. The second color yarn is supposed to show up today so I can continue it. I'd gotten the same yarn in a golden color last year sometime and now, having been using it...

... I'm so glad and look forward to making something for myself with it, hopefully in learning the Tunisian stitch. Maybe something simple and beginner like this one:

Anyhoo, I'll be crocheting and listening to audiobook probably tonight. Keeping an eye on Keo.

Have a good day

Much love,
