Currently reading DEADLY SECRETS by Carla Simpson. 2nd of 8 in series in Angus Brodie/Mikaela Forsythe historical mystery series.

A severed foot. Fingerprints left on a wine glass. A secret cypher code. The scent of orange and cinnamon left behind by the murderer. Mikaela Forsythe, adventuress, author, and now private investigator, is back, pulled into a deadly case that may just see her friend, actress Theodora Templeton, sent to prison for murder when that severed foot is found in her bed and a high-ranking official has gone missing. But is it a crime of passion or something far more sinister? There is only one person who can assist--former police inspector Angus Brodie, the irascible Scot who challenges her at every turn. But Brodie is reluctant to take the case of a woman who communicates with the dead and keeps a four foot iguana as a pet. Until there is another murder, and then another. As the body count rises Mikaela and Brodie are forced to undertake a dangerous scheme to expose the murderer. But secrets lie in wait, and desperate people will take desperate measures to protect those secrets. All the while Mikaela's great aunt has decided to go on safari, the Mudger and Rupert are caught up in the case, and a brilliant young man--Bloody hell! Another Scot!-- has joined the team. Then there is that undeniable attraction to deal with that lies simmering just beneath the surface for two people who could not be more different...What is an independent lady to do?

And for Retro Romance Readathon, I've started another Harlequin Flipside category, FORGET PRINCE CHARMING by Natalie Stenzel.

A Girl's Guide to Frog Hunting. Haley Watson has kissed one too many Prince Charmings - those major hunks with major character flaws. She caught her latest ex-hunk warming up for their romantic weekend by having sex with his secretary. So if all princes are jerks, then geeks -aka frogs - must actually be a sweet, reliable, overlooked species. Natural habitat: computer stores and libraries. But just when Haley has a real live geek in her sights, her new neighbor Rick Samuels - the Anti-Nerd - starts in with the charm. Haley informs him that she dates only hotties with pocket protectors and thick glasses. Rick resents Haley's stereotyping and feels it's time to teach Haley rule #1 of the Genus Geekus.

Published 2003; 224 pages.

Steve has a board meeting tonight. I have sprints. I'm going to be crocheting like mad. I'm going to be gifting afghans to two wedding couples. Here's the pattern I found that I think is doable for a beginner like me and beautiful.

With different color yarn than the lavender here for the non-white portion. The first one I have to work on, the wedding is in a month. Yes, they're moving fast after fifteen or so years of togetherness. I know it doesn't have to be there before the event but I want to get on it quickly, nonetheless. I found some GORGEOUS yarn. I received the pearl color yesterday and got started on it. It is beautiful and easy to work with. A smaller gauge than I'm used to.

The other wedding, I don't have a date for but I'll do the same pearl color and the black version of the same yarn for them for the alternate color.

Have a good day

Much love,

PK the Bookeemonster
