I finished BARRAYAR last night. I have a digital loan from the library that I may start. THE TESTING by Joelle Charbonneau is the first of a dystopian young adult trilogy. Here is a description:
Published 2013, it has 352 pages. It’s graduation day for sixteen-year-old Malencia Vale, and the entire Five Lakes Colony (the former Great Lakes) is celebrating. All Cia can think about—hope for—is whether she’ll be chosen for The Testing, a United Commonwealth program that selects the best and brightest new graduates to become possible leaders of the slowly revitalizing post-war civilization. When Cia is chosen, her father finally tells her about his own nightmarish half-memories of The Testing. Armed with his dire warnings (”Cia, trust no one”), she bravely heads off to Tosu City, far away from friends and family, perhaps forever. Danger, romance—and sheer terror—await.
Steve finished the DIVERGENT trilogy. The ending made him ... very angry. When he doesn't like the ending, he gets mad at the world. He says he liked the first two books a lot. I say, privately and to myself, that if an author provokes such a strong reaction ... she did a good job of story telling.
Not much on TV tonight so I'm hoping I'll be able to read.
Much love,
PK the Bookeemonster
