The Wounded Ranger’s Salute During a Purple Heart Ceremony That Left the Room Weeping
“During the presentation the [Ranger
Regimental] Commander publishes the official orders verbally and leaned
over Josh to thank him for his sacrifice. Josh, whom everybody in the
room (over 50 people) assumed to be unconscious, began to move his right
arm under the blanket in a diligent effort to salute the commander as
is customary during these ceremonies,” the letter read. ”Despite his
wounds, wrappings, tubes and pain, Josh fought the doctor who was trying
to restrain his right arm and rendered the most beautiful salute any
person in that room had ever seen.”
In this emotional moment, “grown men
began to weep and we were speechless at a gesture that speak volumes
about Josh’s courage and character,” the letter continued. “The picture,
which we believe belongs on every news channel and every news paper is
attached. I have it hanging above my desk now and will remember it as
the single greatest event I have witnessed in my 10 years in the Army.”
Video: George W. Bush is Responsible for the Government Shutdown, or Something
By Daniel Doherty
When MRCTV’s Dan Joseph presented DC residents
with a simple yet straightforward question -- namely, who is more
responsible for the current government shutdown, President Obama or
former President George W. Bush? -- almost every single one of them said
the latter...
...I need not remind you that George W. Bush left office five years ago. He
is not involved, much less responsible for, the failed budget talks in
Washington, D.C. that led to a government shutdown. Polls show
Americans fault both political parties and the current occupant of the
White House for the impasse. Bush, by contrast, is a retired former
president and a private citizen. Yet somehow he’s still to blame?
Amazing how that works!
Federalist No. 62 (James Madison)
Wednesday, February 27, 1788
The Senate
George Will: ‘Default is a choice’
"....I repeat what I have said here before: Default is a choice — a choice in the sense that we have 10 times more revenue coming in than is needed to service our debt. We can continue to service our debt by not paying certain other vendors and certain other programs. We will only default if it is a choice. And, furthermore, the 14th Amendment empowering the president not at all, but the Congress entirely, says it is a constitutional requirement to pay, under the full faith and credit of the United States, our bonded debt.”Federalist No. 62 (James Madison)
“It will be of little avail to the people, that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed or revised before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man, who knows what the law is today, can guess what it will be tomorrow. Law is defined to be a rule of action; but how can that be a rule, which is little known, and less fixed?”
Limbaugh goes nuclear: ‘placeholder’ GOP ‘so irrelevant’
With news Wednesday that the U.S. Senate would move forward with a vote to reopen the government and raise the debt ceiling — not even to be blocked by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) — conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh slammed Congressional Republicans for what he called a lack of “any opposition” to Democrats.
“I was trying to think earlier today if
ever in my life I could remember any political — any major political
party — being so irrelevant. I have never seen it,” Limbaugh said on his
show. “I have never seen a major political party simply occupy
placeholders as the Republican Party is doing. There hasn’t been any
opposition. Not any serious opposition. There may have been votes
against this or that. … But in terms of a policy-oriented, a package of
policies, a package of principle beliefs, of opposition expressed daily
by party leaders against what’s happening in this country, there hasn’t
been.”
Author: GOP ‘walked into a trap’ set by Valerie Jarrett
...According to Klein, Jarrett’s strategy
was meant to weak the GOP’s majority in next year’s House elections to
give Obama’s plans for comprehensive immigration reform a boost. She
derives her influence from sheer proximity, Klein says, noting that no
one with the exception of Michelle Obama has such access to the
commander in chief.
Jarrett is the one who advised Obama “do not cooperate one iota on ObamaCare. Don’t given an inch. Let the Republicans stew in their own juice,“ Klein said.“The Republicans walked into a trap set up by Valerie Jarrett and President Obama, The Republicans are in an untenable position,” he added.
Obamacare website tech execs enjoyed ‘high-level’ White House access
Not only was the Obamacare website born out of a no-bid contract — a practice candidate Obama promised would never happen under his watch — but now the Washington Examiner reports
that executives working for the firm behind the dysfunctional Obamacare
website enjoyed numerous private engagements with “high-level” White
House staffers:
Prior to the official
award, senior CGI executives met with top White House officials and
attended a number of invitation-only addresses by President Obama.
According to the logs, CGI Federal
President Donna Ryan visited the White House six times prior to her
company being selected to do the IT design work behind the high-profile
website.

After all, these superior beings know more than you yourself know what is best for you. That's why they're in power and will remain in power no matter what--all for you own good of course.
...So these bugs are deliberate features to disguise the true costs. And to protect Obama. And to enrich the planners. And to have another reason to blame the Republicans; the Tea Party. And who knows what else has been plotted by these totalitarians--to pave the way for single (government) payer perhaps?

Obamacare exchanges and a free enterprise one: compare and contrast
By Thomas Lifson....Private investment demands results, or the capital goes elsewhere. By contrast, the president is spending taxpayer money with political, not financial, goals. No business plan. No beta test. No consequences. If the Obamacare exchange is a catastrophe, so what? Taxpayers can't disinvest.
"Obama would have had his own resources at risk if this were a private company," says Michigan political consultant Stu Sandler. "But it's not. The result is hundreds of millions of dollars spent on a website that doesn't work."
Terrific: Former ACORN Workers Are Back as Obamacare 'Navigators'
By Katie Pavlich
....Let me remind you of exactly why the
criminal enterprise known as ACORN was stripped of federal funding in
2009: the organization was promoting tax evasion, underage human
trafficking, underage prostitution, voter fraud and more. ACORN's
criminal activity was exposed by the late Andrew Breitbart, Hannah Giles
and James O'Keefe through a series of undercover videos. To put things
into perspective, think about the last time Congress defunded
anything.....they hardly ever do, but ACORN was so bad and full of corruption that defunding was pushed through in bipartisan fashion.
...Surprised former ACORN workers are helping with Obamacare? You shouldn't
be. President Barack Obama has a long history with the "community
organizing" fraudster group and was heavily tied to them during his time in Chicago.
FAQ: What Is The ACA's 'Reinsurance Tax'?
By Mary Agnes Carey
Q: What is the "reinsurance" tax?A: It is a $63 tax assessed on nearly every health insurance plan enrollee for the next three years. The money collected is then used to help insurers in the individual market with high-cost cases that reach beyond a catastrophic cap. The fund would reimburse insurers for 80 percent of costs for claims between $60,000 and $250,000 per person.
Q: Why was the tax included in the health law?
A: It's one of several provisions in the 2010 health care law that is thought to smooth the transition of millions of Americans into the individual market and keep insurance affordable. Enrollees in the individual market tend to be sicker and cost more than enrollees in other plans.
How to Talk to Harry Reid (If You Gotta)
By Neal Boortz....Obamacare isn’t the only concern of the Tea Partiers. They want taxes lowered. They want worthless and counterproductive government regulations repealed.
Tea Partiers heard Home Depot founder Bernie Marcus say that the Home Depot miracle could not be reproduced today due to government regulations and trial lawyers. (Morgan & Morgan, FOR Obamacare). They’ve seen the stories of little girls with lemonade stands in their front yard being shut down by uniformed police. They heard about Mortgage Investors Corporation, a 75-year-old real estate lender that specializes in making and refinancing loans to our veterans, winding down operations (and firing 476 people in Florida) because the Dodd-Frank Act, which you championed, is so burdensome that they simply cannot decipher the law and don’t know how to implement this wonderful new government regulation.
...I’m sure you know this, Harry, and I’m just as sure you are relying on the ignorance of the American public to give you a pass when you utter this absurdity. The Congress, Mr. Reid, IS doing its job. It is doing exactly what it was designed to do. The Republican members House of Representatives heard the head of Obama’s transition team say “we will be ready to RULE from day one,” and they said “not on our watch.” We didn’t elect a ruler, Harry. We thought we were electing a leader, and now it is the job of the House to act as a check and balance against the abuses being heaped on the American people by a lawless Executive Branch, a clueless Judicial Branch (et tu, Justice Roberts?) and a compliant U.S. Senate
Did you really hear what I said?
America’s so tired of intimidation, distraction games
By Dr. Ben Carson
...Honest media try to provide objective information that the people can
use to make informed decisions, but prudent individuals really should
not count on the media and must learn to study issues for themselves.
The Founders had studied the governing structures of many nations that
preceded us and were thoroughly convinced that the biggest threat to
continued freedom in America was the expansion of the power and
influence of a central government that was not controlled. The
implementation of Obamacare places the health — and, ultimately, the
lives — of the people in the hands of the government. Over the course of
time, such a relationship places the government at the top of the power
pyramid, thus putting “the people” in a very dependent position.
A statement ascribed to Vladimir Lenin
and widely disseminated in 1948 by the American Medical Association,
implies that the establishment of government control over health care is
foundational to the creation of the socialist state. The exact quote:
“Socialized medicine is the keystone to the arch of the socialist
state.” There is controversy as to whether Lenin
used these exact words, but the larger point is that he and his
followers certainly subscribed to the philosophy symbolized by these
words. Some will rant and rave about whether slavery and mandated
governmental control of our health are equivalent, and others will be
foaming at the mouth about who Lenin
was and what he said, but fortunately, many others will actually
recognize the fundamental power shift occurring in our nation and its
implications for our future.

PK'S NOTE: This is why I love Trey Gowdy.
Trey Gowdy Goes Off on National Park Service Director for Treating Occupy Protesters Better Than Nation’s Veterans – Here’s His Case
During a U.S. House hearing concerning the closure of national parks and monuments during the partial government shutdown,
Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) scolded the director of the National Park
Service for treating “pot-smoking” demonstrators in the Occupy movement
with more respect than the nation’s war veterans.
Gowdy relentlessly challenged National
Park Service Director Jonathan Jarvis to cite the federal regulation
that prompted his department to put up barricades to keep veterans out
of war memorials on the first day of the shutdown. He also pointed out
that the Park Service failed to issue a single citation when Occupiers
camped out at D.C.’s McPherson Square for 100 days — 100 days in
“non-compliance” with federal regulations.
“That was two years ago,” Jarvis explained.
“Well, I can cite you the regulation
that you did not follow two years ago. Can you cite me the regulation
that required you to erect barricades from accessing a monument that
they built?” Gowdy pressed.
Americans have some recourse against Obama’s shutdown theater.
By Kevin D Williamson
There is a finely calibrated bargain at the heart of a republic:
Citizens have a duty to obey the lawful and legitimate mandates of the
government, including those with which they disagree, and the government
has a duty to see to it that its actions are lawful and legitimate. The
people have an obligation to be prudent and circumspect about engaging
in civil disobedience, and the government has a responsibility to be
scrupulous with its powers. That contract has been violated ....
....Since the administration has seen fit to provide the
public with an ample supply of barricades, it would be an excellent
thing if the angry crowds marching in Washington this week would use
them to surround the White House and show President Obama what a
shutdown really is. If the president wants shutdown theater, he
shouldn’t get to have the stage to himself — we have a cast of
thousands.
It’s a dance — but we can never let them forget who leads.
By Kenric Ward
Every day that America’s national parks remain shut down, $76 million is lost at the “Barrycades.”
Last year, the country’s 410 parks and monuments hosted 715,000
visitors a day. Turned away by padlocked gates and officious orange
cones, the flow of tourists has dwindled to a trickle – and so has the
revenue. In addition to the $76 million in lost daily visitor spending, $450,000 in daily campground fees and boat rentals has also dried up, according to data compiled by a Park Service organization.
Longing to be a Victim
by John Stossel
These days, being seen as a victim can be useful. You immediately
claim the moral high ground. Some people want to help you. Lawyers and
politicians brag that they force others to help you.
This turns some people into whiners with little sense of responsibility.
Joe Biden's niece was arrested recently for throwing a punch at a cop. The New York Post says she's addicted to alcohol and pills, but rather than take responsibility for her actions, she blamed them on the "pressure she faces" because her uncle is vice president.

Obama emotionally marginalizes his adversaries: going so far as blackening their names for political points at press conferences and memorial service. Unquestionably, such cocksure cynicism emboldens him to throw moderation to the wind when employing scorched-earth tactics to gain the advantage. Obama is politically obligated and morally self-affirmed in the application of torment to innocents in order to make clear his point of "who's the boss." In sum, to repeat my contention: Barack Obama does indeed yearn to destroy America, no question about it. At the same time, he is flagrantly incompetent in going about it, no question about that either.
....Why does Obama live in Wonderland? How does he get away with it?
Partly, because he is the embodiment of liberalism. Those on the left ignore reality and evidence and hew to doctrine -- whatever the results may be (famine, poverty). The answer is always more government and more dependency.
But there is also Obama's biography to consider.
Barack Obama has not lived in the real world. He spent most of his life coddled in private schools. He never had a real job. True, he did work as a part-time lecturer at the University of Chicago but if one spends years in the Ivory Tower is that reality? Would Rapunzel be prepared for the Presidency? There is no legal work that has registered; no transcripts to scrutinize. The community organizing "gig" was a bust. He barely made a mark as a state senator and spent most of his time as a U. S. Senator running for the Presidency. There has never been a President with less real-world experience, and it shows. Irving Kristol quipped that a conservative is a "liberal mugged by reality." Of course, Obama has never really experienced much reality.

The Audacity of a Failed Diva
By Glenn Fairman....the Urban Dictionary, that crudely-fashioned looking-glass of our society's descent into vulgarity, defines diva as
a bitchy woman that must have her way exactly, or no way at all. often rude and belittles people, believes that everyone is beneath her and thinks that she is so much more loved than what she really is. Selfish, spoiled, and overly dramatic. With all apologies to Merriam-Webster, no highbrow definition could ever serve to describe more succinctly these qualities of personality that embody Barack Hussein Obama. Unduly effeminate in his metro-sexualized comportment, Obama's entire adult life has been corrupted by an echo chamber of fawning subservience. But like all accomplished and would-be autocrats, he has fallen into the same fatal error: he has taken to believe the Messianic schtick that has been cobbled together by his Handlers. All self-ordained prophets are loathe to deviate even a jot or a tittle from their own shining historical path, and this deadly flight of hubris renders them ripe for terminal calamity. It is the diva in Barack Obama that rejects accommodating his enemies, because his political world is a zero-sum affair and any concessions granted to infidels are viewed as anathema to his hyperegalitarian base: romantic spirits who thirst for perpetual peace and plenty while enjoying Starbucks in their Birkenstocks.
Moreover, when your audacity ensures an absolute fidelity to the cause of Socialist rectitude, one need not extend the olive branch of dignity to those in opposition to your slash and burn maneuvers throughout the culture-at-large. Parents Outraged Over This Highly Intrusive School Survey – Which Was Deleted Shortly After TheBlaze Started Asking Questions
By Mike Opelka
....The sophomores at Poolesville High
School were allegedly told that the survey was part of a lesson about
polls and demographics. Instructors assured students that they were
taking an anonymous survey — although, the sophomores in at least one
classroom were told to log into their Edline accounts, the parents claim. Edline is an online education support system for parents, students and teachers.
Once logged in using their online names
and passwords, students filled out the multiple choice questionnaire,
according to the parents.
The parents say the survey wanted to know some pretty sensitive
information about students and their families. Among the topics were
race, religion, sexual orientation, living situation (one parent, two
parents, single parent, etc.), parents’ political affiliations,
thoughts/feelings on Obamacare, and who is to blame for the government
shutdown.
That’s the law in Kentucky, anyway, where former Holmes High School teacher and marching band director Jared Murray is walking scot-free after exchanging a total flurry of nearly 700 messages with an unidentified 15-year-old female, reports local Fox affiliate WXIX.
During the hearing Rep. John Mica (R., Fla.) questioned Jonathan Jarvis, the National Park Service Director on his communications with the White House and the reasoning behind shutting down the monuments.
“Several times on the phone with the White House I presented with the Secretary my decision, but it was never the reverse,” Jarvis said.
A federal workers union is demanding that President Barack Obama
declare the shutdown a national emergency and force businesses,
hospitals, and schools to forgive workers’ bill payments until a deal is
reached.
American Federation of Government Employees President J. David Cox sent a letter to Obama on Friday lamenting that the lengthy shutdown would hurt government workers. He proposed that the White House intervene to declare the shutdown a federal emergency, which would allow workers to collect zero-interest loans from FEMA and force businesses to extend lines of credit to employees.
...Cox also asks that federal workers receive free healthcare, gasoline, public transportation, and utilities until “their paychecks have been restored.”
Federal workers collected half-paychecks for their last pay period and will not be paid again until after the shutdown ends. House Republicans passed legislation that would allow workers to receive retroactive pay, which would provide workers with lump sum checks at the end of the shutdown.
Teacher walks away scot-free after flurry of 690 sizzling texts with underage student
Just so you know, America: you will face exactly zero criminal charges if you are a high school teacher who sends some 350 text messages to an underage student in a nine-day period saying things like “You already know I’ll smack your ass,” “Damn this feels like you really are mine” and “Night baby doll.”That’s the law in Kentucky, anyway, where former Holmes High School teacher and marching band director Jared Murray is walking scot-free after exchanging a total flurry of nearly 700 messages with an unidentified 15-year-old female, reports local Fox affiliate WXIX.

Homeland Insecurity Alert: Dry Ice and Dry Runs
By Michelle Malkin...Rest assured, however, that we are as vulnerable as ever to the old tried-and-true scheme of sending hijackers aboard planes to take them down. The U.S. Airline Pilots Association spelled it all out in a memo obtained by WTSP Tampa Bay reporter Mike Deeson last week.
"Bringing down an airliner continues to be the Gold Standard of terrorism," the document warned U.S. Airways pilots. "If anyone thinks that our enemies have 'been there, done that' and are not targeting commercial aviation -- think again. There have been several cases recently throughout the industry of what appear to be probes, or dry runs, to test our procedures and reaction to an inflight threat."
