Monday the heck you say

Monday.

The weekend was all right. I did reading sprints on Saturday to fill in for Sarah. We just kept going and going ... for five hours.

I wasn't feeling very well yesterday -- partly I think because I hadn't taken any day allergy medicine over the weekend. So I slept a bit.

I finished THE ABC MURDER by Agatha Christie on Saturday. I gave it 4 stars. I had the right suspect in mind I think because, being a long-time reader of mysteries, I had heard of this Christie plot previously but didn't know it was this one until a little into the read.

Currently reading A FETE WORSE THAN DEATH by Dolores Gordon-Smith. 1st of 11 in series featuring Jack Haldean, a former Royal Flying Corps pilot and mystery writer, in early 1920s England.

It's 1922 and Jack Haldean, young crime writer and former Royal Flying Corps pilot, is enjoying the local fete on a beautiful summer's day in rural Sussex. But then Jack's fellow officer, Jeremy Boscombe, is found dead in the fortune teller's tent and later the same day Boscombe's shady friend, Reggie Morton, is murdered in the village pub. Jack's search for the truth will lead him back to the Battle of the Somme and an act of terrible betrayal.

Published 2007; 288 pages. This is for scavenger hunt this weekend.

Deep, deep sigh. This came in from the library so I'm going to give it a try. GOLDEN SON by Pierce Brown. 2nd in Red Rising trilogy.

As a Red, Darrow grew up working the mines deep beneath the surface of Mars, enduring backbreaking labor while dreaming of the better future he was building for his descendants. But the Society he faithfully served was built on lies. Darrow’s kind have been betrayed and denied by their elitist masters, the Golds—and their only path to liberation is revolution. And so Darrow sacrifices himself in the name of the greater good for which Eo, his true love and inspiration, laid down her own life. He becomes a Gold, infiltrating their privileged realm so that he can destroy it from within. A lamb among wolves in a cruel world, Darrow finds friendship, respect, and even love—but also the wrath of powerful rivals. To wage and win the war that will change humankind’s destiny, Darrow must confront the treachery arrayed against him, overcome his all-too-human desire for retribution—and strive not for violent revolt but a hopeful rebirth. Though the road ahead is fraught with danger and deceit, Darrow must choose to follow Eo’s principles of love and justice to free his people. He must live for more.

Published 2015; 466 pages. Reading this for GarbAugust. I really didn't like the first book. I'm willing to give it a second chance.

Tonight, I'll read. Sprints on another channel.

Have a good day

Much love,
