What? Silly? At least my ears are warm. Plus I can't hear you anyway.

Oh dear. Two books from the digital library are now in my queue and will have to jump to the front of the reading line.

CROWN OF MIDNIGHT by Sarah J Maas. This is 2nd in the Throne of Glass trilogy. Here's a description:
She is the greatest assassin her world has ever known. But does she have the heart of a killer?
After a year of hard labor in the Salt Mines of Endovier, eighteen-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien has won the king's contest to become the new royal assassin with the goal of earning her freedom in four years. But Calaena is far from loyal to the crown. Keeping up the charade - while pretending to do the king's bidding - will test her skills in an entirely new way. And it certainly isn't the only point of confusion for the young girl. Because though she's made her choice between Dorian and Chaol, the ways of the heart are never simple...
Published in 2013, it has 431 pages.

I also have SOMEWHERE IN FRANCE by Jennifer Robson. Here's a description:
In the dark and dangerous days of World War I, a daring young woman will risk her life to find her destiny. Lady Elizabeth Neville-Ashford wants to travel the world, pursue a career, and marry for love. But in 1914, the stifling restrictions of aristocratic British society and her mother’s rigid expectations forbid Lilly from following her heart. When war breaks out, the spirited young woman seizes her chance for independence.  Defying her parents, she moves to London and eventually becomes an ambulance driver in the newly formed Women's Army Auxiliary Corps—an exciting and treacherous job that takes her close to the Western Front. Assigned to a field hospital in France, Lilly is reunited with Robert Fraser, her dear brother Edward’s best friend. The handsome Scottish surgeon has always encouraged Lilly's dreams. She doesn't care that Robbie grew up in poverty—she yearns for their friendly affection to become something more. Lilly is the most beautiful—and forbidden—woman Robbie has ever known. Fearful for her life, he's determined to keep her safe, even if it means breaking her heart. In a world divided by class and filled with uncertainty and death, can their hope for love survive...or will it become another casualty of this tragic war?
Published in 2013, it has 400 pages.

 But wait, there's more....

Arriving today is the new Charles Todd, A FINE SUMMER'S DAY, which is a prequel to the series featuring Ian Rutledge, a shell-shocked World War I veteran returning to his job at Scotland Yard, in London. Also arriving today is a latest from Sam Thomas, THE WITCH HUNTER'S TALE, 3rd in series featuring Bridget Hodgson, a widowed midwife, and Martha Hawkins, her apprentice, in 1640s York, England. And on Kindle yesterday was Estelle Ryan's newest, THE PUCELLE CONNECTION. This series features nonverbal communication expert, art insurance investigator, and high functioning autistic, Doctor Genevieve Lenard.

And I'm in the middle of, what, four other books? (Jecks, RED RISING, Dunnett, and ZEALOT).  I'm probably set for the month.

Much love,
PK the Bookeemonster
