Where the H is the weekend?

Thursday

Currently reading IRON FLAME by Rebecca Yarros. 2nd in fantasy series.

Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College—Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves. Although Violet’s body might be weaker and frailer than everyone else’s, she still has her wits—and a will of iron. And leadership is forgetting the most important lesson Basgiath has taught her: Dragon riders make their own rules. But a determination to survive won’t be enough this year. Because Violet knows the real secret hidden for centuries at Basgiath War College—and nothing, not even dragon fire, may be enough to save them in the end.

Published 2023; 884 pages. I've just started it. This is the very much anticipated second book to FOURTH WING that people were obsessed with. I read that one and gave it 3 stars. I decided not to buy this sequel but to wait for the library hold. It initially said "six months" wait time. I got it, what, in only four weeks. I'm going to give this a healthy try. The writing is clunky. A lot of people have DNF'd it.

And I've decided to not crochet the birthday afghan for our receptionist. I need a break from it.

The yarn for it is not that great -- it has broken a couple times and has been knotted already in a couple places on the skein. The yarn strand seems very thin in some sections. I've not been happy with the quality of it.

Also, I got my new Kindle Scribe yesterday which I think is also a sign that I need to work on my research project. To stop putting it off.

And now I've come up with an even better birthday gift(s) for her that I'm very happy with.

I've got sprints tonight. So I'll be just reading.

Have a good day

Much love,

PK the Bookeemonster
