I'm currently reading A SUNLESS SEA by Anne Perry. This is 18th out of 18 in series featuring William Monk, an amnesiac police inspector, later a private detective and then commander of the River Police, in Victorian London. Here is a description:
As commander of the River Police, Monk is accustomed to violent death, but the mutilated female body found on Limehouse Pier one chilly December morning moves him with horror and pity. The victim’s name is Zenia Gadney. Her waterfront neighbors can tell him little—only that the same unknown gentleman had visited her once a month for many years. She must be a prostitute, but—described as quiet and kempt—she doesn’t appear to be a fallen woman. What sinister secrets could have made poor Zenia worth killing? And why does the government keep interfering in Monk’s investigation? While the public cries out for blood, Monk, his spirited wife, Hester, and their brilliant barrister friend, Oliver Rathbone, search for answers.
It was published in August 2012 and has 384 pages. This is a library book.
Steve has shooting tonight; I'll be watching the debates. This is usually a contact sport for me very much like watching a football game. I probably should be sedated; it would probably go better. As someone told me today: they wouldn't want to be at my house with me during it. (not that they're going to watch but they should)
It RAINED today! It was perfect: dark and rainy and cool and if it had been a Saturday it would have been perfection.
Much love,
