Cover Up: Obama Administration Now Hiding Massive Cost of Vacations
By Richard Berkow
In the wake of President Obama’s 23rd vacation, Judicial Watch estimated the first family has milked the public trough for more than $18 million in hotel and resort expenses, security costs, car rentals and airfare. And the “most transparent administration in history” has been anything but cooperative, the Washington Examiner reported last week.
The Washington, D.C.-based watchdog group has been forced to file a stream of Freedom of Information Act requests because of White House stonewalling.
“The Obama administration has simply stopped voluntarily producing information about the costs of travel,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton told Secrets, according to the Examiner. “It is radio silence. They are in cover-up mode.”
On Jan. 13, Fitton’s group sued the Secret Service and the Department of Defense for details on how much taxpayer money was spent in 2013 on seven lavish Obama trips to global destinations, including Spain, Ireland and Africa.
Secret Service FOIA responses proved anemic, stymieing Judicial Watch’s efforts to fulfill its stated mission to “ensure that political officials do not abuse power entrusted to them by the American people.”
“The Obamas are abusing the perks of public office,” Fitton said. “Taxpayers shouldn’t be footing the bill for their luxury travel.”
Obama is known for spending explosive amounts of taxpayer money on his family’s personal vacations which have included expensive massages, top shelf vodka, and 5-star hotels. During his last Christmas vacation, he spent a total of $3,235,500… for the flight alone.
Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) says that Congress has not just the power — but the duty — to defund the Obama’s lavish vacations in an effort to combat Obama openly abusing his executive authority.
Gowdy was asked whether they would really consider cutting off the dear leader’s vacation fund. His response was simple: “Blank right, we are going to do it.”
Known for never mincing his words, Gowdy said: “Mr. President, you want to run roughshod over the Constitution, we have the power of the purse. We’re not going to fund your pet projects. We’re not going to fund your green energy initiatives. We are not going it fund your vacations.”
PJ Media reports:
Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) said Monday that he’s thinking of a few thing Congress can do to counter President Obama’s executive overreach, including cutting off money for his vacations. “Number one, my colleagues in the Senate have advise and consent, if they want to shut down the Senate over appropriations bills or ambassadorships or other things. The Constitution gives them the power of advise and consent. The Constitution gives us power over the purse,” Gowdy said on Fox.
“So we have appropriation bills that are going to be coming to the House this spring. We ought to strip money away from this executive branch, because our framers gave us that exclusive right to do so. If one branch overreaches then maybe the other branch ought to stick up for itself.”

The Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) will spend $175,000 for a study on the “swimming abilities” of fish in the Northern Rockies, the agency announced on Thursday.
The FWS, a bureau within the Department of the Interior, will award a grant for the study that will produce a “fish swimming video.”
The grant announcement, entitled “Cooperative Research Program on the Swimming Abilities of Native Stream Fishes in the Northern Rockies-Upper Great Plains Regions of Montana,” estimated the project’s cost at $175,000.
Montana State University’s (MSU) Department of Ecology will administer the study in conjunction with the FWS Bozeman Fish Technology Center in Montana.
The FWS already is conducting “cutting-edge fish passage research” at the Bozeman center by observing two fish species, the sauger and the longnose dace, swim.
“The goal of the swimming capability research is to improve fish passage and landscape connectivity for native and sensitive species,” said David Dockery, an MSU graduate student who worked on the previous FWS project.
Among the tasks for the latest study are conducting “fish-swimming experiments,” and “analysis of fish swimming video.”
NBC: 23-Year-Old Olympic Freestyle Skier With Wife, Kid Living 'Alternative Lifestyle'
By Matthew Balan
NBC can't seem to keep its left-leaning slant out of its coverage of the Winter Olympics. One day after playing up Stalin's "palace for the people" in Moscow's metro system, the Big Three network's spotlighted how an American freestyle skier is living an "alternative lifestyle" – for being married at 23 and having a young daughter.
Correspondent Skyler Wilder underlined how David Wise, who won the gold medal in the half pipe on Tuesday, is "mature far beyond his years....At such a young age, Wise has the lifestyle of an adult. He wears a Baby Bjorn baby carrier around the house." Twenty-three is "such a young age?" Perhaps the network is following ObamaCare's definition of "children", which includes those aged 18 to 26.
Wilder used his "mature" label of Wise three times in first four sentences of his article on the skier, "David Wise's alternative lifestyle leads to Olympic gold:"
The NBC sports writer continued with his "lifestyle of an adult" description of Wise, and added that "he [Wise] also attends church regularly and says he could see himself becoming a pastor a little later down the road. Not exactly the picture you had in mind while watching him nail two double corks wearing baggy pants.""Hey, Nayeli," he said peering into the camera. "Daddy loves you!"
Those were the words of David Wise, the freestyle skiing halfpipe gold medalist Tuesday night after he won his event's first-ever Olympic medal.
David Wise is at the top of his sport. He's always smiling among his friends and competitors, however, he's not like the rest of the field. He is mature.
Not to say the rest of the freestyle skiers of halfpipe are not mature, but Wise is mature far beyond his years. At only twenty-three years old, he has a wife, Alexander (sic), who was waiting patiently in the crowd, and together they have a two-year-old daughter waiting for them to return to their home in Reno, Nevada.
UC Berkley Moonbats Expose Elementary Kids To Giant Penis, “Pin-The-Tail On The Anus” Game…
These people should be thrown in jail for child abuse.
Via Campus Reform:
A group of elementary and middle school students touring University of California – Berkeley last week were exposed to a man in a giant penis costume and school-sponsored sex games.
The children were led through the campus quad while Berkeley students were playing “pin-the-tail on the anus” and tossing condoms through holes on a poster board meant to represent vaginas and anuses.
There was also a man dressed as a giant penis handing out condoms, although he was not permitted to hand them to the children.
“We had little lines of children walking down Sproul [Plaza] next to all the demonstrations, the guy in the penis suit, everything,” Berkeley student Claire Chiara said in an interview with The College Fix.
Keep reading…Update: Pic of the giant penis.
This should help with those low enrollment numbers
WRGB interviewed Trevaughn Banks, an inmate set to be released from the Albany correctional facility next month. After his release, he will be an official Obamacare enrollee.
“I don’t want to have to [pay] out of pocket every time I need to take a trip to the doctor or emergency room,” Banks explained.
He said that prisoners deserve healthcare.
Banks railed against individuals who don’t want to provide inmates with health insurance. “This is a fair country, we have a fair country, so for people to say that is not fair,” he said.
Andrea Mitchell Plots Dem Strategy: 'Many of Us in the Media' Touted More Spending
By Scott Whitlock
MSNBC anchor Andrea Mitchell on Friday openly plotted strategy with a senior Democratic adviser, complimenting him on successful efforts to convince Americans think that raising the debt ceiling wasn't "running up the credit card." [See video below. MP3 audio here.]
Mitchell talked to Doug Hattaway, a member of Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign. She praised, "You were one of the advisors to persuade the Democrats that for this round of the debt ceiling debate they had to re-frame it so that it wasn't the Democrats wanting to spend more money." Mitchell unselfconsciously continued, "As hard as many of us in the media tried to persuade people, this is money that's already been spent, we're just paying the bills."
Hattaway congratulated himself on changing the debate, noting, "Democrats in 2011 weren't even talking about default. They were saying raise the debt ceiling. The problem is when people hear that, it sounds like run up the credit card."
Mitchell then helpfully showcased a graph for Democrats. Under "don't say this" were words and phrases such as "debt ceiling" and "refuse to raise the debt ceiling." Under "say this" were examples including "default crisis" and "catastrophe."
As Mitchell looked on, Hattaway crowed about raising "awareness in people's minds" and that " now over half of voters polled say we should not default under any circumstances."
Media Silence Explained?: Soros Fingerprints On FCC Newsroom Probe
By John NolteThe real mystery behind the FCC's now abandoned "study" to police American newsrooms is why the mainstream media refused to raise holy hell over it. While Obama's lapdogs refused to bark, it was conservative media who fought for newsroom independence and got the FCC to finally back down. Other than the media's natural obedience to Obama, the fact that the fingerprints of left-wing billionaire George Soros have been found on the FCC study might also help to explain the media's silence.
CNS News reports that for the first ten years of the last decade, Soros donated more than $52 million to numerous media outlets. In a world where the media is dying a slow, painful suicide (brought about by their own incompetence and corruption), that is no small amount of money. And you can bet that those media organizations that have not benefited from Soros' largesse would someday like to. So why antagonize him?
...There is just no rational explanation for the media's lack of outrage over a federal government "study" that should put a chill down the spine of anyone who understand how important a free press is to protecting democracy.
It is bad enough when the media pushes to have the freedoms of everyone else crushed by the federal government. But when the media stops fighting for their own freedom, the canary in that coalmine doesn’t have a chance.
Do Nothing Democrats Not At It Again
By Kevin Tharp
....Look
a little deeper than the rhetoric and you will find that the inaction
is coming from one branch of congress and it is the one controlled by
Democrats. I did a tally of the legislation voted on by both bodies of
Congress in 2013. I did not include procedural, cloture, confirmation or table votes. I also didn't include trivial votes like naming post offices.
There
were 8 bills voted on by both bodies. Seven of the eight bills were
written and originated in the House. Only one originated in the senate.
The House voted on 141 other bills. The Senate 6. That's it. None of the
normal business of appropriating funds. None of the legislation which
could create jobs. The Senate had not passed a budget for a number of years until last year.
Of course
the Senate does vote to confirm presidential appointees. But Senate
Democrats are whining about not getting enough opportunities for confirmation
votes so they can hardly blame their legislative lethargy on that. It
is Harry Reid who once again is not doing the job that the Senate is
required to do to responsibly govern the country. It is Harry Reid,
Democrat from Nevada, who is obstructing the normal functioning of the
federal government.
The
Republicans are doing what they can considering their efforts are
impeded by the Senate. Another year, another case of the Do Nothing
Democrats.
After DHS Denial, Local Reporter Finds Evidence Terrorists Crossed the Border
By Brian Hayes
As we reported last week, a local news station found Border Patrol documents that indicated that thousands of OTMs — “Other Than Mexicans” — have been caught crossing the Mexican border into the U.S., including some known terrorists.
But since that report, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has DENIED that there is any “credible evidence” that any terrorists have crossed over.
So the reporter took another look — and the evidence he found is even worse than originally revealed.
He found that 300 terrorists from the Somali Al Queda group Al-Shabaab — the group behind the terror attack at the Kenyan shopping mall last September – have entered the U.S. and are unaccounted for.
12 Banker Suicides Linked to JP Morgan Investigation for ForexManipulation
What is Forex?
FOREX — the foreign exchange market or currency market or Forex is the market where one currency is traded for another. It is one of the largest markets in the world. Some of the participants in this market are simply seeking to exchange a foreign currency for their own, like multinational corporations which must pay wages and other expenses in different nations than they sell products in. However, a large part of the market is made up of currency traders, who speculate on movements in exchange rates, much like others would speculate on movements of stock prices. Currency traders try to take advantage of even small fluctuations in exchange rates.
In the foreign exchange market there is little or no 'inside information'. Exchange rate fluctuations are usually caused by actual monetary flows as well as anticipations on global macroeconomic conditions. Significant news is released publicly so, at least in theory, everyone in the world receives the same news at the same time.
Currencies are traded against one another. Each pair of currencies thus constitutes an individual product and is traditionally noted XXX/YYY, where YYY is the ISO 4217 international three-letter code of the currency into which the price of one unit of XXX currency is expressed. For instance, EUR/USD is the price of the euro expressed in US dollars, as in 1 euro = 1.2045 dollar.
Unlike stocks and futures exchange, foreign exchange is indeed an interbank, over-the-counter (OTC) market which means there is no single universal exchange for specific currency pair. The foreign exchange market operates 24 hours per day throughout the week between individuals with Forex brokers, brokers with banks, and banks with banks. If the European session is ended the Asian session or US session will start, so all world currencies can be continually in trade. Traders can react to news when it breaks, rather than waiting for the market to open, as is the case with most other markets.
The EPA 'Spy' and Double Standards
Gina McCarthy gets a pass, while Mark Townsend gets a threat.
Faux spy John Beale bilked taxpayers out of almost $900,000 as he pretended for years to be a CIA agent frequently away on secret missions. In reality, taxpayers were funding travel and time off from his job at the EPA. And for years managers including Ms. McCarthy allowed him to get paid as if he was working full-time at the EPA.
Now look at how the feds are treating another EPA manager accused of failing to appropriately document an employee work schedule. Mark Townsend is a career scientist in the EPA's Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics. In July 2012 he received a visit from the staff of the EPA Inspector General's office. The IG staff wouldn't tell him the reason for their inquiry but asked about various personnel matters. They eventually focused on one particular staff scientist and demanded that Mr. Townsend write out and sign a statement about his management of this employee.
A year later, the Department of Justice threatened to charge Mr. Townsend with various crimes because he had filled out electronic time cards attesting that the scientist had been on duty, and had also signed off on regular summaries of days worked. The scientist whose time cards the DOJ considered fraudulent had not been at the office.
By longstanding arrangement that predated Mr. Townsend's arrival in the office, the woman had been allowed to work from home and not much was expected of her. She was believed to suffer from severe multiple sclerosis and while Mr. Townsend never saw any medical documentation, he did visit her house once to help her use her computer. It was part of his effort to help her become more productive.
He reports that she was confined to a wheelchair and that the entire house had been configured to accommodate her apparent illness. Prosecutors have not claimed that she wasn't sick, but only that she wasn't doing enough work from home to justify the time for which she was paid.
We recount all this because Justice's treatment of Mr. Townsend contrasts so sharply with the handling of the EPA senior officials who knowingly filled out bogus time cards for John Beale and haven't been charged with anything. Has anyone even received a reprimand?
The contrast gets odder still. On June 28, 2013, U.S. Attorney Ronald Machen sent to Mark Townsend's lawyer a draft plea agreement. Mr. Townsend was given two weeks to plead guilty to first degree misdemeanor fraud, punishable by up to 180 days imprisonment. If he did not accept this deal, prosecutors warned that they would "bring the hammer down."
Less than two months later, the charges against Beale became public. And since then Mr. Townsend has heard nothing. No charges, no exoneration, nada. Mr. Townsend has continued to work at the EPA while wondering if he'll be charged. He's also been wondering, given the DOJ threats against him, how it's possible that none of Beale's supervisors has faced such threats. The number of times that someone had to fill out a false report for Beale in one of the two software programs that EPA uses to track attendance and leave time must be significant.
One could argue that EPA Administrator McCarthy and other senior officials were duped, and that when they signed off on false information about Beale they really believed he was a spy. But according to a working paper from the EPA Inspector General, Deputy EPA Administrator Bob Perciasepe said he informed Ms. McCarthy and another senior aide in early 2011 that there were no CIA employees at the EPA. Yet Beale was allowed to remain on the EPA payroll until spring 2013.
A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office says it has no comment on Mark Townsend and doesn't comment on cases in which no public action has been taken. But if prosecutors take any action at all, and they want to set an example at the EPA, they should start at the top—and leave Mark Townsend alone.
When the Twain Collide
It’s only a matter of time till American fecklessness abroad runs up against an iceberg.
By Matthew Continetti....Watching the strange mix of clumsiness and insouciance with which Barack Obama and John Kerry approach the world, the abstract and aloof manner in which they comment and posture on foreign affairs, it is hard not to recall Hardy’s metaphor of growing dangers distant from the center of civilization. The recent news of a possible terrorist plot against airliners flying to the United States, and of a threat against the U.S. embassy in Uganda, reminds us of the durability of the ideology and menace of Islamic terrorism. The ability of non-monarchical Arab governments to control their populations has collapsed, creating an arc of stateless space that begins in Libya and Egypt, is briefly interrupted by the tiny, embattled, belittled, and bullied Jewish State, and extends through Lebanon into Syria and western Iraq.
This is our iceberg. Within its confines murderers and barbarians roam, butchering each other and anyone else who is caught in the crossfire. Within its confines followers of al-Qaeda gather and plot. They will not remain within its confines for long, though. Anyone who pays the least attention to the articles inside the New York Times will have noticed leaks by officers of our intelligence agencies, leaks desperately warning that the jihadists have turned their eyes to Europe and to the United States. It is no secret. At the end of last month the Director of National Intelligence told Congress that al-Qaeda is no less a threat than it was when it attacked in 2001.
Our response? The United States has no influence in Egypt, it has left the Syrian dictator more secure, it has left him with his stash of WMD, and it has no pull over Lebanon, no pull over Iraq. The United States is gutting its military, it is pursuing negotiations with Iran whose only point is, in the words of one former Obama official, to “buy time.” It is withdrawing from Afghanistan and leaving it in the hands of the former hosts of al-Qaeda, and it is lifting asylum restrictions to make it easier for Syrians with “loose ties” to terrorism to migrate here.
The United States is about to lose strategically important drone bases in Afghanistan, it has found itself out-maneuvered by Vladimir Putin at every turn, its policies toward hotspots in Venezuela and Ukraine seem nonexistent. The policy is to talk above all, to keep talking in Geneva with the Syrians, to keep talking in Vienna with the Iranians, to keep talking in Jerusalem with the Israelis and the Palestinians, no matter that the talk accomplishes nothing, no matter that it drains resources, energy, and personnel that could be put to more constructive use elsewhere. His policy in Syria in tatters, his negotiations with Iran a charade, the secretary of state flew to Indonesia last week to rally the world against the amorphous force of climate change. Why do something about 130,000 dead Syrians, about proliferating weapons of mass destruction, when you can poke fun at those who dissent from the scientific consensus?
The territory over which al-Qaeda claims sovereignty is growing, our influence in the Middle East is shrinking, and serious contenders for the American presidency want to make it more difficult for the government to survey the enemy. Our president and his administration interpret these developments, if they interpret them at all, in isolation, as discrete situations, as the inevitable consequences of the post-American world they are so diligently helping to bring into being. “Alien they seemed to be,” Hardy writes. “No mortal eye could see / The intimate welding of their later history.”
The fecklessness of our government and the dangers in the Middle East are the “twin halves of one august event.” We do not know when that event will occur. We know only that it will occur, and that there will be no sign of the crash until the “Spinner of Years” says,
“Now!” And each one hears,
And consummation comes, and jars two hemispheres.
Attacking Diversity of Thought
Liberal students have a funny definition of "diversity."
By Jonah Goldberg....At least that’s where Erin Ching, a student at Swarthmore College, seems to be coming down. Her school invited a famous left-wing Princeton professor, Cornel West, and a famous right-wing Princeton professor, Robert George, to have a debate. The two men are friends, and by all accounts they had an utterly civil exchange of ideas. But that only made the whole thing even more outrageous.
“What really bothered me is, the whole idea is that at a liberal arts college, we need to be hearing a diversity of opinion,” Ching told the Daily Gazette, the school’s newspaper. “I don’t think we should be tolerating [George’s] conservative views because that dominant culture embeds these deep inequalities in our society.”
Swarthmore must be so proud.
Over at Harvard, another young lady has similar views. Harvard Crimson editorial writer Sandra Y. L. Korn recently called for getting rid of academic freedom in favor of something called “academic justice.”
“If our university community opposes racism, sexism, and heterosexism, why should we put up with research that counters our goals simply in the name of ‘academic freedom’?” Korn asks.
Helpfully, she answers her own question: “When an academic community observes research promoting or justifying oppression, it should ensure that this research does not continue.”
One could easily dismiss these students as part of that long and glorious American tradition of smart young people saying stupid things. As Oscar Wilde remarked, “In America the young are always ready to give to those who are older than themselves the full benefits of their inexperience.”
But we all know that this nonsense didn’t spring ex nihilo from their imaginations. As Allan Bloom showed a quarter century ago in The Closing of the American Mind, these ideas are taught.
Indeed, we are now up to our knees in this Orwellian bilge. Diversity means conformity.
