I wish I were home reading....

 Thursday

I skim-read the rest of Woodiwiss book last night.  I'm surprised I remembered rather a lot of it; I guess it made an impression on me back then. Published 50 years ago, it is very much a bodice ripper. And I think the author loved Gone With The Wind. I gave it two stars. I liked it but it wasn't making my socks go up and down.

So on to the next read (still really enjoying the Abercrombie, BTW, all is not lost on the reading front. I'm on page 200 of 515). To add to my TBR now like I need more to read (ahem) .... Sarah, one of the BookTubers I follow, is participating this weekend on a readathon that sounded fun so I'll play, too. Plus she led me to a new BookTuber to follow, so Yay! He apparently did a "GarbAugust" readathon last August in which you read, revel in, wallow in, give yourself permission to read --  trashy books. He's doing a mid-year readathon - GarbAugust 1point 5 -- this weekend. I've been wanting to read a Doc Savage in all it's pulpy goodness for the past few months so this is giving me the nudge.

About to start THE THOUSAND-HEADED MAN by Kenneth Robeson. 2nd of 152 in the Doc Savage pulp fiction series.

With a mysterious black Chinaman, Doc Savage and his amazing crew journey to the jungles of Indo-China in a desperate gamble to destroy the infamous Thousand-headed Man.

Long ago, Doc Savage had assembled five men as his assistants, five men who were world-famed specialists in their respective lines. A desire for excitement and adventure, and a profound admiration for the astounding bronze man who was their chief, held the little group together. Some men crave money, others works of art, and some go in for society - these five specialized in trouble. There was plenty of that around Doc; his path was always that of peril, danger and thrilling adventure!

Published 1934; 225 pages. And Amazon has it free with Kindle Unlimited.

I should probably read a book on loan next for a regular read. These books won't read themselves you know.

And speaking of library loans, the cozy mystery group that tipped me to join the Las Vegas Library because you can join even if you don't live in that state, mentioned two others that do that same. They use these resources to find the books they want to read for free. Very smart. So I now belong to Las Vegas Library, Broward County Library in Florida, and Harris County Library in Houston, Texas. Along with Kindle Unlimited, my world has expanded and cost less.

Tonight I have a reading sprint starting at 5 so I'll tune in between 5:30-6 after taking care of Ryker and Steve's dinner. It will go until a bit after 7. They're two hours ahead of me. We also have BattleBots to watch.

Have a good day

Much love,

PK the Bookeemonster
