Did you like the book? If you have read any of the author's other books, how does this compare? I did like this book though upon reflection it seemed simplistic though I don’t know why. The procedural did everything that needed to be done, talking to suspects leading to other suspects and theories. In the 90s it seemed like there was less reliance on CSI than on good old footwork so that was the thrust of the investigation. It seemed to go at a leisurely pace though but maybe I'm too ingrained with "The First 48" which has colored my view. I guess maybe because Crombie writes a “pleasant” murder mystery rather than a gritty one. The story arc between the two main characters was a substory that didn’t interfere too much and continues along in the series.
What are some of the major themes of this book?

Relationships and relationships within a marriage, relationships versus a career, community, secrets

Next up: holding auditions. May be CITY OF SHADOWS by Ariana Franklin, A BITTER CHILL by Jane Finnis, THE PLYMOUTH CLOAK by Kate Sedley, A TAVERN IN THE MORNING by Alys Clare, THE MEANING OF NIGHT by Michael Cox, or something completely unknown. :)

Otherwise, watching football playoffs, Veronica Mars disc 4 of Season One, and playing on the Net.
