Beach Bum: President Obama is leaving Washington for a 17-day vacation in Hawaii

President Obama and his family will leave Washington Dec. 20 for a 17-day holiday vacation in Hawaii.
The White House announced Friday that the Obamas will depart next week after what is expected to be a light work schedule for the president in Washington.
The president and his family traditionally spend their Christmas break in a rented home on Oahu with spectacular ocean views

If You Like Your Checking Account, You Can Keep Your Checking Account

By Mark Steyn
Looks like the government may have found a way to pay down all that debt:
Shannon Bruner of Indianola logged on to her checking account Monday morning, and found she was almost 800 dollars in the negative.
“The first thing I thought was, ‘I got screwed,’” she said.
The Bruners enrolled for insurance on the Washington Healthplanfinder website, last October. They say they selected the bill pay date to be December 24th. Instead the Washington Healthplanfinder drafted the 835 dollar premium Monday.
But don’t worry, the government is in full compliance with its requirement to give them advance notice of the early seizure:
Washington Healthplanfinder emailed the Bruners a few days ago telling them to log in to view their invoice, something they couldn’t do because the website has been down. The Bruners haven’t been able to get through on the helpline either. They finally contacted Healthplanfinder administrators by posting a message on their Facebook page.
Renting a blimp to fly over the Healthplanfinder parking lot may also work.
By the way, just to make certain your Obamacare application will be fully processed by January 1st, the government is thoughtfully garnishing your first month’s premium twice:
One viewer emailed KING 5 saying, “They drafted my account this morning for a second time.”
When Obama has your PIN, it’s Christmas all year round. For him.

How the West was lost by the selfie president

 By Michael Goodwin
My bookshelves sag with encyclopedic volumes arguing that America and the West are in decline. But proving that a picture is worth a thousand books, the “selfie” seen ’round the world ends the argument.
It’s official — the government of the United States of Obama consists of boobs and bores and is led by a narcissist. It is no consolation that Great Britain joins us in racing to the bottom.
President Obama’s flirting with Denmark’s prime minister would be shameful on any occasion. That it happened at the memorial for Nelson Mandela only adds to the embarrassment.
But the “selfie” episode also symbolizes the greater global calamity of Western decline. With British prime minister David Cameron playing the role of Obama’s giggling wingman, the “look at me” moment confirms we have unserious leaders in a dangerously serious time.

Obama Admin. Reportedly Wants ‘Radical New Political Powers’ for Corporations in Secret Trade Deal: Huffington Post

The Obama administration reportedly wants new trade standards that would grant radical new political powers to corporations, up the cost of prescription medications, and restrict bank regulation — and apparently with hardly any international support — The Huffington Post reported, noting two internal memos it said it obtained.
The memos come from a government involved in the 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership free trade negotiations, the Huffington Post said, adding:
Previously leaked TPP documents have sparked alarm among global health experts, Internet freedom activists, environmentalists and organized labor, but are adamantly supported by American corporations and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The Obama administration has deemed negotiations to be classified information — banning members of Congress from discussing the American negotiating position with the press or the public. Congressional staffers have been restricted from viewing the documents.
One of the most controversial provisions in the talks includes new corporate empowerment language insisted upon by the U.S. government, which would allow foreign companies to challenge laws or regulations in a privately run international court. Under World Trade Organization treaties, this political power to contest government law is reserved for sovereign nations. The U.S. has endorsed some corporate political powers in prior trade agreements, including the North American Free Trade Agreement, but the scope of what laws can be challenged appears to be much broader in TPP negotiations.
Also at issue is access to medicine, and the Obama administration reportedly wants “new intellectual property rules in the treaty that would grant pharmaceutical companies long-term monopolies on new medications,” the Hufftington Post said, which would mean they could “charge high prices” and not worry about “competition from generic providers.”

Supreme Irony of Obama/Castro Handshake goes Unnoticed

By Stu Tarlowe
....Contrary to the giddy reporting of the Left-leaning mainstream media, the handshake hardly represents the spirit of Nelson Mandela reaching out from the grave to promote "reconciliation" between the U.S. and Cuba. As some conservative commentators have observed, two Commies shaking hands is hardly a news story.
But what about the supreme irony that, at the funeral of a man celebrated and eulogized for dedicating his entire life to combating racism against blacks, the "first black president of the United States" shakes hands with one of the leaders of a regime that is probably the worst practitioner of institutionalized racism against blacks in the entire world? In fact, the institutionalized racism in Cuba has been described as "Stalinist Apartheid"!
That irony is compounded by the fact that, while the "official" Mandela narrative would have us believe that he was held for 27 years as a "prisoner of conscience", solely because he dared to oppose apartheid, in reality that opposition was expressed through terrorism, and he was imprisoned for being a terrorist. And all through his imprisonment, he could have regained his freedom by publicly repudiating his terrorist activities, but he stubbornly refused to do so. Although Mandela did eventually renounce terrorism, for many years the phrase "unrepentant terrorist" was as apt a description of Mandela as it still is for Bill Ayers.

Obamacare Disinformation Runs Deep

The “keep your plan” lie just scratches the surface of the deception.

By Jonah Goldberg
....But the third plank in the triad of disinformation hasn’t gotten much attention: Obamacare will save you, me, and the country a lot of money. This lie took several forms.
First, Obama promised on numerous occasions that the average family of four will save $2,500 a year in premiums. Where did that number come from? Three Harvard economists wrote a memo in 2007 in which they claimed that then-Senator Obama’s health-care plan would reduce national health-care spending by $200 billion. Then, according to the New York Times, the authors “divided [$200 billion] by the country’s population, multiplied for a family of four, and rounded down slightly to a number that was easy to grasp: $2,500.”
In September, the Obama administration’s Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services used far more rigorous methods to predict that Obamacare would increase national health-care spending by $621 billion. Using Obama’s own math, that would mean — according to Chris Conover, an economist at the American Enterprise Institute and Duke University — each family of four in America will spend an additional $7,450 thanks to Obamacare.
Of course, that methodology is still bogus. But it’s probably closer to the truth.
The president and his allies also insisted that all of Obamacare’s “free” preventative care would save the country vast amounts of money. As Obama put it in 2012: “As part of the health-care reform law that I signed last year, all insurance plans are required to cover preventive care at no cost. That means free check-ups, free mammograms, immunizations, and other basic services. We fought for this because it saves lives and it saves money — for families, for businesses, for government, for everybody.”
That’s not true either. First of all, you’d think people would understand that there is no such thing as “at no cost.” You are paying for “free” mammograms, blood tests, and the rest, even if you don’t see a line item for them on your bill. And even if you’re poor enough that you don’t even see a bill, that doesn’t mean no one’s paying. That’s why millions of Americans who’ve lost their health insurance thanks to Obamacare are discovering that the new plans it offers are either more expensive, have higher deductibles, or both.

Hey, Rich Kids: If You Get Wasted and Kill People With Your Truck Blame It On “Affluenza”

By Doug Giles
Lawyer’s for 16-year-old Ethan Couch were able to pawn off on a doe-eyed court that “affluenza” was to blame for his stealing beer at WalMart, getting wasted and then plowing his out of control Ford F-350 into a group of folks, killing four.
Affluenza? Please.
For those who’re not hip to “affluenza“, allow me to help you add another word to that ever growing list of PC terms spun by blame-shifting therapists in order to explain away criminal behavior by little Ethans who need to go to prison instead of a luxury rehab in Newport Beach:
Affluenza is a portmanteau of “affluence” and “influenza“. It’s the malady of rich kids whose parents never let them suffer the consequences of their bad behavior. In my day we called them spoiled little bastards and the way we’d help them get healed from affluenza is by beating the crap out of them at school when mommy and daddy weren’t around.
According to a defense psychologist, this is what Ethan suffers from and we should feel sorry for this brat. Yep, these wizards postulated that little Ethan was unable to link his criminal/deadly behavior with its being bad due to his parents’ teaching him that wealth buys privilege. Therefore, to impart to him this hard lesson in reality, his parents hired out an expensive law firm that successfully convinced a court that numb-nuts needed rehab versus jail. Wow. Way to go. Lesson learned.
...Silliness aside, we have four dead individuals who lost their life because this punk didn’t have a life; and now walks away unpunished because our land defines deviancy down.
Personally, as you can imagine, I feel no sympathy for Ethan’s made up ailment. No, my empathy begins and ends with the victims and their shattered families who, not only have to live with their loved one’s loss, but they have the additional pain of watching our justice system dole out a comfy sentence to a kid who should swing.

Denver Post Scrubs 'Socialist' from Description of Colorado School Shooter

 By Warner Todd Huston
On the evening of December 13, in which 18-year-old Karl Pierson entered Arapahoe High School and shot two students, The Denver Post published a description of the teen as a "very opinionated socialist." However, by the next day, the description merely read that he was "very opinionated." The word "socialist" was scrubbed without explanation.
The story written for the Post by Zahira Torres and Yesenia Robles initially buried the fact that the young man was identified as a socialist in the 13th paragraph.
In the first paragraph the paper noted that Pierson was "outspoken about politics," and in the third quoted a friend who said that the shooter "had very strong beliefs about gun laws and stuff."
But readers had to wait until the 13th paragraph to read what direction those outspoken political views took.
